Inverse Numerical Transmission in Map Image Systems

In cartography, mapping systems are used to transfer geographic coordinates to planar coordinate network. This method is called "forward transmission". In many applications, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), maps are digitized using digitizers. Therefore, the data collected are integrated into another set of data, in which case the planar coordinates should be transmitted into the form of geographical coordinates; this is called “Inverse Transmission”. In this paper, two numerical methods for inverse transmission are discussed.
