Study of Turkman one-humped camel husbandry and its products in Golestan province

This study was carried out for Turkman one-humped (dromedary) camels husbandry conditions and their product in then of north of Golestan Province. It showed that the husbandry method is generally extensive system, and they are mainly bred for milk and meat production. Sexual maturity was accrued in 2 to 3 years age and parturition interval is 2 to 3 years age. The average birth weight is 35 Kg. The average daily milk production of camels is 8 Kg in 8 month lactation period and the annual milk production was 1880 Kg. The produced milk is mainly used for making fermented milk (CHAL). Average carcass weight of camels was 187.5 Kg and dressing percentage was 48.9.
