The effect of planting data and nitrogen level on performance and essence of Matricaria (Matricaria Chamomilla)
Matricaria is frequently used in pharmacy and cosmetic industry. Due to high expense of production and low amount of yield, its cultivation is not yet economically extended. Current study was conducted to evaluate the planting date and required nitrogen for Matricaria. The experiment was performed through split plot based on RCBD design with 4 replications in the experimental field of Jiroft University. Treatments were three levels of planting dates; 1st and 15th of Bahman and 1st of Esfand and 4 levels of nitrogen; 0, 50, 100 and 150 Kg per hectar. The result revealed that the effect of nitrogen on yield and number of flower and its diameter, was highly significant (P<0.01). The effects of nitrogen on the plant height and the essence percentage was also significant (P<0.05). The effect of planting date on the yield, number of flower per plant was also highly significant (P<0.01), but its effect on plant height was significant (P<0.05). There were no significant effects for interaction between planting date and nitrogen level in this study. The highest amount of yield of Matricaria was belonged to N3D1; 100 Kg nitrogen per hectar and planting data of 1s of Bahman. The highest plant height was belonged to 150kg nitrogen and planting on 1st Bahman. The highest number of flower per plant and diameter was belonging to 100 kg nitrogen and planting data of 1s of Bahman. Treatment with 100 and 150 nitrogen per hectar produced the highest amount of essence. Based on results, using 100-150 kg/ha nitrogen on 1st of Bahman could be recommended for the highest yield components and amount of essence in Matricaria.
