Designing Mathematical Model for Transportation Routing in Supply Chain, With a Case Study in Donar Khazar Company

Abstract:
Over the last decades, both academics and practitioners have become aware of the importance of coordination between the different stages in a supply chain. Integrating different stages of supply chain creates a trade-off between them and redound a better overall performance. It is generally accepted that, in a supply chain Inventory costs and transportation costs are at odds, therefore the inventory routing addresses the issue of coordinating inventory replenishment policies and distribution plans in a cost effective manner. Indeed it integrates two important components of the supply chain: transportation logistics and inventory control. In this study in order to coordinating these components of supply chain, a mathematical model is proposed and to investigate validity of proposed model a comparison study and a case study is produced. Given a distribution center and a set of sales-points with their demand rates, the objective of the inventory routing problem (IRP) is to determine a distribution plan that minimizes fleet operating and average total distribution and inventory holding costs without causing a stock-out at any of the sales-points during a given planning horizon. This study is organized as follows. Section 1 outlines importance of the problem. In Section 3, the characteristics of the problem are analyzed. Designed model & data gathering methods and Parameters computation methods described in next sections. Results are given in Sections 7 and 8. Finally, Section 9 gives some conclusions and further research issues. This thesis is organized as follows. Section 1 describes the problem and Section 2 outlines its importance. Section 3 reviews the theoretic bases of problem. Designed model & data gathering methods and Parameters computation methods described in Section 7. Computational results are given in Section 9.
