Investigation of Barriers and Solutions of Electronic Banking Development in the Private Banks of Iran

Abstract:
The main purpose of this research is to identify and investigate the main barriers in the way of e-banking development in private banks of Iran. The research is descriptive in method, survey in execution and applicable in purpose. The statistical society of the study consists of 410 banking and e-banking experts and top managers of the private banks. The main recognized barriers, on the base of research literature, were cultural-social, legal-juridical, managerial, financial and technical-technological barriers. These barriers are tested at reliability level of 95% using 29 indexes. At last, the first three hypotheses indicating the existence of cultural-social barriers, legal-juridical barriers and managerial barriers in the way of e-banking development in private banks are accepted respectively with the average score of 7.11, 7.03 and 6.67; Whilst the fourth and fifth hypotheses of the research indicating the existence of technical-technological barriers with the average score of 5.94 and financial barriers with 5.43 are not accepted.
