Survey on the Relationship between Social-Cultural Factors and Familie's Mental Health Quality A Case Study of Families in Shiraz

Abstract:
Families are the most important institutions in human societies in which individual's personality takes shape. This study aimed to investigate social-cultural factors affecting familie's mental health quality through a survey research method using a questionnaire. The sampling frame of the study consisted of all families in which the couples lived together in Shiraz in 1384. Drawing on a random stratified sampling strategy 386 families were selected as the sample of the study. Data analysis indicated that there was significant relationship between the age of respondents, sex, income, education, occupation, household size, social capital, religiosity orientation and self-esteem with mental health. Further analysis of the data employing regression technique revealed that the income of family, age, self-esteem, social capital, religiosity orientation and education accounted for about 30% the dependent variable. In addition, Path analysis conducted suggested that religious orientation had the highest impact on the dependent variable
