A Comparison of the Mental Health, Self-Esteem and Responsibility of Guidance School Girl Students from Divorced and Normal Families A Case Study of Firuzabad City

This study aimed to examine mental health, self-esteem and responsibility differences between the guidance school girl students from the divorced families (under the supervision of the mother) and normal families. This causal–comparative study drew on a sample of 80 girl students (40 from divorced and 40 from normal families) selected out of a sampling frame of all guidance school students of Firuzabad city in the school year 1387-1388. These students were chosen using initially random and then continence sampling strategies. In this study four instruments were employed; a mental health questionnaire, Copper-Smith self-esteem questionnaire, Harrison-Guff responsibility questionnaire and a researcher-made questionnaire comprising 28, 58, 42, and 6 questions respectively. All sample students fill out the questionnaires. The collected data was analyzed using independent t test. Data analysis revealed that there was a significant difference between girl students from divorced and normal families in terms of mental health, self-esteem and responsibility as a consequence of the impact of divorce of parents on children
