Religiosity and satisfaction with life,a case study of high school students of Ferdows, Daregaz and Mashhad (education districts 4, 5 and 7

Abstract:
This paper presents a report of a research conducted to identify the variable "satisfaction with life" and its components, and the variable "religiosity" and its dimensions and to explore the relationship between these two variables among 1200 high school students selected from the cities Ferdows, Daregaz and Mashhad (education districts 4, 5 and 7). The results show that less than half of the subjects (42.5%) were very satisfied with life and the rest had average satisfaction with life. The subjects also showed great interest in religion and religious practices based on the criteria used in the study. The student's degree of religiosity was high as far as the ideological and experiential dimensions were concerned. It was also high with respect to ritualistic and sequential dimensions but not as high as the first two dimensions. The study of the two variables showed that there was a positive relationship between them and that religious students were more satisfied with life.
