Social Capital and Environmental Responsible Behaviours in the North of Iran (Case Study: Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan Provinces)

This main purpose of this paper is to response to these questions: First; whether is relationship between social capital and environmental responsible behaviours? It also tries to answer the question of “what is the relationship between social capital and environmental responsible behaviours regarding to three different geographical places (i.e. Gilan,Mazandarn and Golestan). The study was carried out by survey method and 750 urban citizens (of Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan) have been selected as sample of the study. Proportionate stratified random sampling method was used to select the samples. Questionnaire was the main instrument for data collection which has designed by the Researchers. The survey results a significant relationship between social capital and environmental responsible behaviours. It also indicates that there is a significant relationship between main elements of the social capital and environmental responsible behaviours. Consistence with previous research, the relationship between social capital and environmental responsible behaviours varies geographically. The results of the research can be applied for promotion and development of environmental responsible behaviours and this requires improving social capital and it's dimensions like Trust, Participation in local community and increase the network relationship between social groups first.
