General health status of injection drug addicts in Drop in centers (DIC) of East Azerbaijan

The prevalence of mental disorders among addicts is notable. The aim of this study was to comparison mental disorders status of injection drug addicts in Drop- In- Centers (DIC) and injection drug addicts Razy hospital of Tabriz. In a case control study was examined 194 injection drug addicts of under cover of East Azerbaijan Drop-In- Centers (DIC) and 132 in Razy hospital Tabriz. Psychological health of addicts was evaluated using the GHQ28 questionnaire and the collected data were analysed by Mann- Whitney U and the Multiple Regression Logistic. The prevalence of mental disorders in DIC's addicts and Razy hospital's addicts was 78. 4% and 92. 3% respectively. Also prevalence of alcohol intake and committing crime has been found to be high prevalent among drug users. Odds of having mental disorders in single addicts was more than married addicts. High prevalence of mental disorders among addicts can be leaded to problems in addiction quit and also increasing of risk behaviors and antisocial behaviors. High quality of mental health in DIC's addicts in compared with Razy hospital's addicts، points positive effect DIC's psychological interventions
