The Role of Cognitive and Metacognitive Strategies in Learners Achievement Motivation in a Communication / Information Technology- Based Educational System
This descriptive survey study investigated the cognitive and metacognitive strategies in learner's achievement motivation in educational systems which are based on the communication and information technology. Out of 70 experts in curriculum, educational technology and e–learning in different Tehran universities, a sample of 58 experts were selected to participate in the study. The instrument used for data collection was a researcher-made questionnaire (α=0.86) with 46 items. The research findings showed that among the cognitive strategies, elaboration had the most significant role while the role of rehearsal and organization were found to be significant as well. Among the metacognitive strategies, control, found to have the most significant role while planning and regulation strategies were found to be significant. However, no significant difference were found between these two types of strategies.
