Biomarker data of crude oils and extract bitumens of source rocks in Marun oil field

Marun oil field is one of the main Iranian oil field in Dezful Embayment, Zagros area which was studied geochemically in this paper. Twenty three extracts bitumens from different source and reservoir rocks including Garue, Gadvan, Dariyan, Kazhdumi, Sarvak, Gurpi and Pabdeh formations from different oil wells were analyzed by Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), to evaluate their biomarker content. In addition, five crude oils of Bangestan and one crude oil of Khami reservoirs were studied geochemically to compare with extract bitumen. Different saturate and aromatic biomarkers ratios such as C29/C27 (R) vs. Pr/Ph diagram, variation of C27, C28, C29 sterane, low amount of Gammacerane, variation of C22/C21 vs., C24/C23 Tricyclic Terpanes, low amount of C26/C25 in compare with higher amounts of C31R/C30 Hopane, C27 (Dia/Dia+Reg) Diasterane vs. Pr/(Pr+Ph) and standard diagram of Dibenzothiophene/Phenanthrene vs. Pr/Ph indicate that studied oils were generated from shaly carbonates source rock(s). C32-hopane 22S/(22S+22R) vs. C29-Sterane 20S/(20S+20R), methylphenanthrenes Index-1 and C29 20S/(S+R) vs., C29 abb/(abb+aaa) show that Bangestane and Khami crude oils are situated in oil window while Kazhdumi, Garue and Gadvan organic matter are at the beginning of oil window. Based on different biomarker parameters, Gurpi and Pabdeh samples located in immature zone and show low thermal maturity in compare with other samples. Variation of C21/(C21+C29) Sterans, C27/(C27+ C29) Sterans and MPR value versus depth indicate that thermal maturity increased with increasing depth from Pabdeh and Gurpi to Kazhdumi and Garue samples.
