Forminifera biostratigraphy of the Gurpi and Tarbur formations in northeast Jahrum

In order to study of stratigraphic distribution and biostratigraphy of foraminifera in the Gurpi and Tarbur formations, Qutbabad well located at northeast of Jahrum in Fars province have been selected. The Gurpi Formation in Qutabad well composed of 450m argillaceous limestone and conformably overlies the Ilam Formation and unconformably underlies the Tarbur Formation. The Tarbur Formation in Qutbabad well composed of 105m limestone and dolomitic limestone, and recognition 15 genera and 28 species of planktonic foraminifera and 10 genera and 10 species of benthonic foraminifera. On the basis of stratigraphic distribution of index species, the age of the Gurpi Formation’s sediments is Campanian to Maastrichtian and age of the Tarbur Formation is Maastrichtian
