Methods
The aim of this study is to determine type and site of mandibular fracture and its relation to eatiology of fractures. This study was done in 358 patients with mandibular fracture (maxillofacial clinic, Shariati hospital1999- 2004).
Results
From 358 patients with mandibular fracture, 192 patients with complex fracture,124 cases with simple fracture and 42 cases accompany with other fractures. The male were 297 (82.96%) and female were 61 (17.04%) cases. The most common type of fracture was body fracture and less common type was coronoid fracture.
Conclusion
Car accident is the major reason of fracture and the most fractures happened in summer (specialy in September). To control of drivers and license examination, Can improve and decrease the rate of mandibular fractures also to use the cascade in motorcycle driver is very important.
