Evaluation of pregnant women in the field of Urinary Tract Infection according to the components of Health Belief Model

Birth and delivery is one of the natural phenomena and a vital part of life cycle. And the final aim is for the mother to deliver a healthy child without any complications. Since one of threatening causes of this aim is urinary tract infection Therefore, we have decided to investigate the condition of pregnant women in this field according to Health Belief Model. Material and method of study: An explanatory-analytic study is conducted on 110 pregnant women who avail the health and treatment centers in Behbahan city. The tool used for collecting the information was a multi choice questionnaire consisting of demographic information, knowledge, attitude and self efficacy. The quationaire has been proved and its validity and reliability have been studied before investigation. Analysis of data is conducted with the use of SPSS software. Around 40.9% of the women who were observed had completed high school. About 54.5% of them had obtained good points in self efficacy. The scores obtained in self efficacy itself depended on the people under observation and their education. Pregnant women were more self efficient regarding the food habits. The scores obtained for perceived benefits were 94.5% of the good participants. There was a meaningful relation between knowledge and health belief model factors. Health Belief Model can be used as a tool for evaluating the condition of pregnant women in the field of urinary tract infection.
