Effectiveness of Emotion Regulation in the Mental Health of Epileptic Girls

The research purpose is to assess the effectiveness of emotion regulation in the mental health of epileptic girls aged 14-18 years in Isfahan. Therefore, 30 patients diagnosed with epilepsy were enlisted for the study and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group underwent 12 sessions of emotion-regulation interventions. Findings indicate that emotion regulation was effective in boosting the mental health of epileptic girls in pretest, posttest and follow-up. Moreover, mean scores of somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, anxiety, aggression, neuroticism in the posttest was significantly lower in the experimental group compared to the control group.
