Mixing Anecdotes of Jamshid and Soleiman and their Reflection on the Persian Literature
Author(s):
Abstract:
Jamshid is the great king of Pishdādi Dynasty in Iran and Soleiman is the mighty king and prophet of Bani Israel tribe. After Islam, the identity of both and also the anecdotes which were related to them were mixed. The anecdotes of one is attributed to the other; For instance, they have spoken about Jamshid of possessing a ring and loosing it or him dominating over wind. The reasons of mixing those anecdotes have either been the mistake of Iranian writers and poets based on many similarities between these two people, and also intention of Iranians to attribute divine prophet to Iranian kingship. This was to protect historical buildings and cultural heritage of Iran before Islam.
