Significance of Propaganda in the Debates of Safavids Epoch

Safavids revolutionized the general procedure of the history of Iran in many different ways: political renewal according to the geo-historical framework of Iran and the selection of Shia as the formal religion of the country, which among other changes significantly impacted the Future of country. Surely, these momentous proceedings were accompanied by the problems both in and out of the country. Having had positioned the socio-theological power, they (Safavid) had to encounter two of their most important opponents in the North East and Western boundaries. Having followed the traces of their ancestors, Uzbeks were looking forward to expanding their ways in Middle Asia; so they launched a series of brutal attacks on Khorasan and other regions of Iran. Thus, Safavids had to rise and put an end to this procedure. The Ottomans were also looking to acquire the whole Islamic regions including Iran as well. Therefore, Safavids were faced with yet another difficulty. This resulted in many long lasting wars where Safavids being equipped with powerful military forces and strong ideological beliefs were to stand against them. It was of a great importance to stand against the enemies with bravery and power. In order to attain the desired outcome, Safavid employed their special and powerful propagandas. This way, they could both improve their military forces and their mental conditions and at the same time destroy the mental and psychological conditions of their enemies.The Primary question of this essay is: What kind of work ethic did Safavids have in accordance to the way they handled external conflicts? What propagandist techniques did they employ in order to defeat their enemies? This paper tries to analyze different techniques used by Safavids in their wars against foreigners.
