The Soul-Body Theories of Imamiah Theologians of the Mid-Period and their Role in an Explanation of the Resurrection

Abstract:
This paper seeks to provide a report of the psychological views of the Imamiah theologians (mutakalimin) of the mid-period (4th to 7th centuries) and their historical developments. On the other hand, the paper is to examine the roles of these theories in providing an account of the problems of resurrection. In order to acquaint the reader with the background of some 4th century views, we need to address some Mutazili views about the human nature.
