An Investigation about determinants of road collisions in Mashhad-Neyshaboor route and its mitigation methods

Based on the last published statistics by national police center, road collisions are the most important determinants for handicap in Iran. There is 10 percent growth in killed and wounded persons in transportion routes of the country annually. This paper that is result of research plan under this same title considers studying and recognition of the most important determinants of road collisions in Mashhad-Neyshaboor route. For this purpose, data gathered and focused on different factors such as human environment, road and kind of vehicles Methodology of this paper is descriptive-analytic and for data gathering field method such as questionnaires and interviews are applied. The results show that human factors with 53.4 percent have the most important role and among them following factors are more important: overspeed, non observance of traffic rules, sleepy drivers, precedence, lack of safety belt and fatigue resulted high temperature during summer season. Physical determinants with 23.6 percent are in second place and road and vehicle arranged in other places.
