The Advantages of Comparative Literature

The assessment of literary works has various advantages, two types of which are studied here. The first result of the analysis of literary works is to achieve social-historical perceptions. For instance, the assessment of the situation of women in Iranian and European works has revealed less effective roles for women in Iranian history and works. In European works, women play a more impressive role and have idealistic acts, but in Iranian works, women play a less important role and idealism is revealed in men's deeds.Another global advantage of assessing literary works is to get familiar with story-telling styles in Iranian and non-Iranian works. Some instances of the similarity between the surrealistic style and ancient Iranian works are mentioned. In addition to the general styles, like surrealism, stream of consciousness and magic realism, there are some similarities in story-telling elements observed in ancient Iranian works. Some of such similarities are studied in the final section.
