Conceptual and theoretical position of servant leadership from the perspective of Western scholars and comparison with the religious teachings in Islamic management

Abstract:
Today, managers of organizations facing with a serious challenge that is postmodernism. Postmodernism in organization and management is an approach for observing the existed situation, critics and promote it. Postmodern in management means rejection of any certainty regarding the structure, methods, models, theory. Postmodern organizations emphasizes on dynamic characteristics, continuous improvement, teamwork, creativity and leadership on serving and learning. The aim of this approach led to improvements in the organizations and communities. Organization's leaders can do what seems to be servant. Servant leaders possess attributes such as empathy; foresight and effective listening and are always looking to serve others, not others serve them. This style of leadership efficiency focuses on the organization healthy relationships. Against this type of leadership, leaders are selfish. Selfish leaders can maintain the security, dignity and social aspects, reputation, financial performance, position and wealth. Selfish leaders think they must to lead and their people follow them. In this article the variables of servant leadership in the Western view has been compares with that the researchers studied these variables in the religious teachings And the variables of commitment and expertise, integrity, poor time to serve the people, benevolence and fairness in service, service orientation, can serve as avoid harassment and devotion to the servant leadership of their extraction. Overall can Said this style of leadership first referred to Islam religion thousand years ago while this style of leadership has brought about seventy years ago in the West.
