A to Z A Look at the Proportion of Form and Meaning in Persian Literature

Form and meaning in discourse have been likened to 'body and soul' and 'container and contents'. It is clear in this analogy that meaning is more important, as Mowlavi guides the listener to the contents, meaning, and bewares him of focusing on the container, form. But some great men of Persian literature believe that there is an inseparable connection and proportion between form and meaning, while able orators have sometimes expressed the same meaning in different and various forms, using the vast and countless facilities of a language.Focusing on the delicacies and niceties of the thoughts of the great men of Persian literature, this article aims at a search of the connection between form and meaning.
