Duties Imposed on Hospital Nurses and its Prevention Strategies: A Case Study in Bushehr, Iran

Introduction & To having special condition nurses are forced to cover their coworkers'' tasks، in that case they cannot accomplish their own tasks which brings them unsatisfactory results in their job environment. The aim of the present study was to study the duties imposed on hospital nurses of Bushehr hospitals and assessing their prevention strategies. This study was conducted using a quality –quantity approach with tend of problem solving. Firstly، a couple of meetings were hold in group frame among nurses in different partitions. Secondly، these tasks got formed in frame of questionnaire with 22 questions in Likert Scale of 4 choices and also one descriptive question. After completing the questionnaire، the data was analyzed by the SPSS software using qualitative statistic. The final information in Delphi approach was presented to both the management and Nursing Science Committee in order to find a suitable solution. The imposed tasks showed the highest mean in emergency wards with a mean deviation of (2. 58_+2. 48)، operative rooms with (2. 42_+1. 51)، special wards with (2. 34_+1. 07)، and there was no significant relationship between these imposed tasks and work (p=/06) and gender (p=/05)، but there was a significant relationship with the kind of employment (p=/004). Result illustrated that nurses have so many tasks to cover which are completely unrelated to their specialization، which some are related to the physician and others are related to other members of the care team، such as paramedical personnel، or even tasks related to the service staff. Taking into consideration information resulted by the Delphi approach، supporting the nurses، clarifying the nurses tasks، familiarizing the nurses with their own tasks، and changing the hospitals'' organization chart of are suggested.
