The present study was conducted to determine the mediating role of interpersonal sensitivity in the relationship between integrative self-knowledge and self-injurious behaviors in adolescents. The current descriptive-correlation research was of structural equation modeling type. The statistical population of this research included all students of the second secondary level in Tehran in the second semester of the academic year 2023. 419 people participated in this study using the available method and were administered the Inter Personal Sensitivity Measure (IPSM; Boyce & Parker, 1989), Orbach and Mikulincer Mental Pain Scale (OMMP; Orbach et al., 2003), the Integrative Self-Knowledge Scale (ISKS; Ghorbani et al., 2008) and the Inventory of Statements About Self-Injury (ISAS; Klonsky & Glenn, 2009) responded. Data analysis was done by structural equation modeling method. The results showed that the proposed model is a good fit. The results showed that the direct effect of integrative self-knowledge on self-injurious behaviors was negatively significant; On the other hand, interpersonal sensitivity had a positive direct effect on self-injurious behaviors. Also, the results showed that integrative self-knowledge had a negative direct effect on interpersonal sensitivity (P<0.05). The results of the bootstrap test showed that interpersonal sensitivity had a significant mediating role between integrative self-knowledge and self-injurious behaviors (P<0.05). The results of this study indicate that integrative self-knowledge affects self-injurious behaviors directly and through the mediation of interpersonal sensitivity.
