With Napoleon's invasion of Egypt in the 19th century and the Ottoman military defeats, modernization was set as a priority in the agenda of the empire. This turning point was the third conflict between the two worlds, Islamic and western which faced the Muslims with this question that what is the reason for their military and scientific backwardness. In order to fix this backwardness, the Ottoman adopted Western modernization patterns with the Priority of military modernization and establishment of military academies. Therefore the first Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1883 in Istanbul. The present study in addition to familiarization with modern Ottoman art, tries to answer these questions: What is the specific discourse of modern Ottoman art? And how is it manifested in paintings. Hence, the circumstances of the Ottoman Empire from the 19th century until the establishment of the Republic are studied and works of prominent Modern Ottoman paintings are analyzed. The results show that the discourse of modern art in Ottoman Turkey has close ties with the modernization discourse. Modernization discourse in the Ottoman Empire is equivalent to the "Westernization". In the field of art education it represents adoption of Western styles and transmission of collective art activities from court workshops of military schools and then to Academy of Fine Arts. With the establishment of new art institutions such as the Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul in 1883, learning Western-style modernism became institutionalized as the most striking example of modernism. In addition, emergence of women images, documentary landscape paintings depicting urban and rural modernization and adoption of modern styles could be considered as other impacts of modernization discourse on Ottoman painting.

During 13th-14th centuries there is two major power in Islamic world. Mongols that captured Iran, Iraq, central Asia and removed Abbasid caliphate and Mamluks that Captured Egypt, Syria and accepted the refugee Abbasid caliphate and turned Cairo to new Capital of Islamic world. They are enemies for more than sixty years and after three wars and long period of hostility. Finally, their peace treaty in 1322 was the beginning of trade between two countries. Mongols after their primary terrible invasion, during their reign had been influenced by Persian and Islamic culture, and tried to rebuild Persian textile production as main Ilkhanid dynasty economic thought. we can see major changes in Persian textile design during Ilkhanid period that roots from cultural change during Mongol invasion and their taste for Chinese art like limited, pale colors and complex motifs due to Immigration of many Chinese artists to Iran and Persian artist efforts to mix these new style with Iranian and Islamic motifs to create a specific Ilkhanid style in textiles. Mongols relationship with Yuan dynasty had an impact on changing Persian tradition of textile design in both motifs and repeated patterns. In other side Mamluks turned textile, especially Silk, as an important economic and political commodity. They had major textile traders of textile in Islamic and Europe Countries for more than three centuries. In many historical books, especially Muslim historians, emphasized on transferring Persian silk production techniques to Egypt and Syria after Persian weavers’ immigration in result of the Mongol invasion and restarting textile trades between countries, but there is no scientific paper that shows their empirical evidence of these influences. At a glance, we can see many evidence of Mamluk textiles that shows a composition of Chinese and Islamic or Iranian motifs or composition that show Ilkhanid textiles must be attend as a source of Mamluk textile design. This paper tries to investigate the impact of Ilkhanid textile design, during these period, on Mamluk sultanate textile design to show how artists immigration, Diplomatic tributes and trade effects on transferring Persian Ilkhanid textile motifs and their repeated patterns on their contemporaneous Egyptian textiles. A mix method of Chronological, Descriptive- analytical and comparative research method used to show the correlation between historical evidences and changes in textile motifs and patterns. Textile samples are collected through textile museum websites. Result shows that Mamluk textiles influenced by Ilkhanid textiles and some ornamental motifs like harpies and sphinx, two animal and tree of life, inscriptions, various arabesques patterns with Persian origins, Chinese lotus, peony, phoenix and cloud pattern and especially Persian textile compositions like Medallions as an original Sassanid pattern, repeated ogival frames surrounded main motifs and Surrounded stripes of small florals or geometric motifs and inscriptions that changed Egyptian traditional textile designs of Coptic and Fatimid period based on linear Composition of Inscription and medallions into a complex repeated patterns of Arabesques frames composed by inscriptions and ogival medallions with main pomegranate flower that known as an Ilkhanid important innovation in textile design style.

Mural painting is of urban arts with remarkable capacities, urban functions, cultural and historical structure. The presence of this art in urban spaces and applying it in culture, national identity, urban social life, trading, advertising and citizenship education is undeniable.Mural painting is one of visual arts divisions. Whatever organizes our recognition from our environment is an image that forms in our mind from that environment. Indication, broadcasting and stabilization of cultural positon and identity foundations in Iranian cities can be achieved through mural paintings which help adjusting the city appearance with its ideal identity and culture. The importance of image in city, especially when it is presented in the form of an art work, is through the way that can have different functions and play role in different positions. There are three functions and performances for mural painting as urban art images such as ''artistic'', ''communicative'' and ''application'' in three realms of ''visual arts'', ''social communications'' and ''architectureurbanity'' that influence city landscape, framework and spaces. The present paper with an analytic-descriptive method aims to explaine mural paintings functions in city identity and help remaking of Iranian-Islamic identity in Iranian cities. The identifying role of urban mural painting can be known and explained through exploration of its functions in its peripheral scopes as ''visual arts'', ''social communication'' and ''architecture-urbanity''. Three aspects of ''artistic-cultural values'', ''discourse and media capacity'' and also ''aesthetic and ornamental functions''are the important social realms in which the influences of mural painting can be detected, evaluated and achieved. They also make it clear that urban mural painting has specific capacities in identification of urban spaces with its historical, artistic, cultural and social bases. The identity given to Iranian-Islamic city by mural painting can be achieved through broadcasting and stabilization of explained standards for Islamic city in realms of art, communication and architecture.

This research studies the relation of three ‘traditional handicraft’, ‘cultural heritage’, and ‘cultural globalization’ domains through mining common foundations and introduces it as universal values-based paradigm. While most scholars consider intangible cultural heritage endangered by negative effects of globalization on culture, as globalization and specific conditions of this phenomenon may lead tribes to impatience in respecting cultures and cultural representations and different cultures face with the risk of less significance and or total ruining. ‘Cultural heritage’ due to the presence of tangible, intangible, intellectual, and emotional aspects of social groups, as well as art are naturally ‘national-local’ and ‘global’. Indeed, they are the identity factor representing the ‘what’ and ‘who’ of a community, a document of human destiny, cultures, and civilizations. Therefore, the question raised here is that what role ‘cultural heritage’ plays in the process of ‘globalization’? And, how it preserves and globalizes the community’s original identity in globalization? The present research seeking for this general question and confirming the following hypothesis, consider the obvious manifestation of ‘intangible cultural heritage’ meaning ‘traditional handicraft’ in order to investigate its role in cultural diversity, the dialogue among cultures and interactions of universal basics and values. “Cultural heritage is the common language among cultures presenting previous immortal elements to the present and future. It also enhances people’s awareness level or the world’s selfawareness level in globalization domain that is a knowledge, humanity, and rational-based context, leading them toward a community with human values and criteria.” Thus, culture-oriented approaches, ‘mosaic design or cultural puzzle” paradigm, as well as ‘cultural relativism theory’ along with ‘cultures’ integration paradigm include theoretical foundations of this research. The result indicate that ‘traditional handicraft’ benefiting from mysticism, Sufism, generosity, tradition, and religion is the craft integrated with wisdom originating from ‘traditional knowledge’, which itself is an aspect of cultural heritage. Thus, it is meaningful behavior representation before cultural human, based on symbolic values and social norms, which itself is symbolic and norm-creator. The semantic and value system ruling these handicrafts’ creation and application processes is a typical ‘habit’, since its approaches and principles frequently repeated through the pressure of the aforementioned system; in addition, it frequently creates and makes diversity by the help of its main inspiration source namely nature and existence creating. Interaction’s two necessary principles i.e. ‘cultural diversity and creativity’ and ‘meaning and sprit sources’ in addition to presenting a variety of human common intellectual foundations made these crafts as ‘intangible, spiritual immigrants’ providing ‘universal’ basics and values. So, all desirably welcome it with the least resistance through attraction and appealing rather than dominance. Iranian type, particularly, originates from theoretical basics and Islamic religious principles and tradition in which idealism, truth seeking, and excellence are stronger in this cultural domain due to the unity and spiritual intuition of these arts. This research theoretically collected data through documentary and library method. The descriptive data formulated by expletory- analytical method in which, often, inductive reasoning and sometimes, deductive reasoning applied.
