The wooden rehal is one of the objects that has been used to study the Koran by Muslims. This object, which
can be seen in mosques and houses, is in the form of an English letter x. This rehal, which is kept at the Metropolitan Museum is one of the most unique in the Mughal period. This is undoubtedly the unique example that its decorative motifs and unique combinations were created along with traditional symbols and colors, making it an exceptional composition. By examining the motifs and arrays on the surfaces of this rehal, we can understand the designer and constructor’s ability to regulate the form and space of the plot and its shape, and in this way, evaluate the breadth of insight and constructive thinking of the designer. It was based on the question of what kind of motifs were used in the decoration of the rehal of Koran of the Metropolitan Museum and how is the relationship between these motifs? The purpose of this research was to recognize and analyze patterns, and geometric relationships between these components. This research is descriptive-analytic, and the information obtained is collected by the library method. The study of motifs and scrolls of the shrub expresses the doctrine of Muslim artists, which are the principles and aesthetic rules based on golden proportions and the influence of the principle of unity in the same plurality and following the principle of the symmetry in Islamic art

Fish design, in addition to its beautiful appearance, has a symbolic implication which is the reason for its repeated use in various arts since ancient times. This design has been shown in different forms in Iran’s carpet, both abstract and transformed, and close to nature. In Iran’s art after Islam, due to the sanctity of the use of visual imagery, we see the conversion of fish form to leaves, which can be seen in carpet designs in the Herat or fish map, where the fish form is one of the main structures of this map. In this article, the natural forms of fish in carpets of the Safavid and Qajar dynasties was studied according to the existing images, in order to find an answer to this question: What is the symbolic meaning of the fish design in Iranian art and what place does it have in Iran? What is the shape and appearance of fish in these carpets? The study was descriptive and analytical and its theoretical bases are compiled in a documentary manner. The observations showed that in forming the design of fish, inspiration from nature is evident, but the degree of softness and violence in using the lines in their design varies. Also, the symbolic implications of this design and its place in the beliefs of ancient Persians were interpreted based on their location in the carpet.

At the beginning of the human communities’ formation and in the early societies, clothing has had a protective role to keep human body safe from the natural factors. Later, with the development of social and cultural activities in societies and formation of religious beliefs, clothing and type of color, texture, form and style of dressing, gained a cultural role and their social, cultural and symbolic function became highlighted. What is important about the garment of a social group, tribe or a society is, first, the cultural patterns according to which people choose the material, size, color, shape and style of sewing. The other is the function and role which some clothing play in various social, cultural, occupational, ritual and religious circumstances. In the tribal communities whose people follow the same patterns in social, cultural and religious behaviors and are bound to follow the usual norms of the same traditional wearing, there is no variation in the economic and the material structure, as well as plurality, diversity and enthusiasm in their occupations and clothing. So, all are influenced by the common cultural patterns among the people of those societies which are adapted with the norms and criteria of their native culture. The issue of traditional clothing, like the other cultural and artistic aspects of Iran, is an undeniable point in the anthropologic topics, as well as, in the familiarity with the language and the identity of the inhabitants of the various regions of this land. Studying the various artistic aspects of each of the traditional clothing of these regions’ indigenous people one might open a window for discovering their unknown cultural and artistic identity. According to anthropological studies carried out by researchers, various types of women’s head cover in the province of Ilam have been introduced. For example, based on these studies, types of women’s head covers of Ilam are: Araqchen, Klaw, Golvani (Golwani), Kat, Lacheg, Sarvan, Habar, Kasaari, Black Veil, Aba, Qatrah, Taqari, Sawah Siah, Scarf (Maqena), Sheleh (which is special for Arab women of Mousyan) and Baan Sarvan (Mohammadi Seif, 1395: 171). Hence, Golvani, which is one the main traditional clothing in Ilam and Lorestan, has been selected for conducting this purposeful study. The main goal of this research is to introduce, describe and analyze the method of production, decorative motifs and cultural background of this type of head cover, regarding its current widespread usage in various cultural and artistic events. The main research questions are: 1. what are the decorative patterns used in design of Golvani? 2. How explainable are the conformity among the decorative patterns used in Golvani in Ilam and Lorestan? The findings of the study indicate that the decorative motifs of Golvani are a combination of the natural and abstract motifs and everyday instruments used by women. The main reason for the similarity of these motifs in Lorestan and Ilam is the tribal life of people living in these areas. This research has been done descriptively, analytically and based on field and library studies.

Timurid era has been one of the peaks of art in Iran. Unprecedented effort by the Timurid princes is exemplary in establishing Libraries and Supporting Artists. Beautiful works of art were created with his support. Samples of these designs can be seen in the decorations of Goharshad mosque, Jame mosque of Azghad, Ghyasyeh school and building of Abu Bakr e Taaybadi. Design works created in the Imperial Library in Herat were probably performed to cover all aspects of Art. Geometry of motives in Ilkanian period was transformed into elegant designs in Timurid era that owed its elegance to artistic traditions of Tabriz, Baghdad, Shiraz, which were later developed in Herat. The use of plant motives and arabesque simultaneously shows progress of art design during the Shahrukh e Timuri era. The paper has studied the design in the first art school in Herat that ,despite what experts believe, shows a mixture of arabesques and plant(Khataee) motives simultaneously in decorative motives. According to architectural decoration including wood working and tile in the building one can observe conformity with the Qur’ans and writing books. Research approach is qualitative and method is comparative analysis. Data collection and field research is based on the library documents and case study. It should be noted that all the images in architectural decorative arts have been photographed by the author.
