The aim of this study is to select the optimal transport system in urban metro mechanized excavation projects. For this purpose, three options have been examined: complete railway systems, hybrid conveyor - railway systems, and hybrid conveyor-rubber wheel vehicles (or Multi-Service vehicle MSV) systems. Different criteria investigated for comparing the options include: economic, safety & environmental, technical and operational management criteria. For each of these main-criteria, one or more sub-criteria are considered. In order to evaluate the economic sub-criteria, the costs and the benefits of each option are analyzed. The interviews with professional experts are used to prioritize criteria and sub-criteria. Expert opinions are analyzed using a multi-criteria technique called "procedure similar to the ideal option» based on fuzzy logic. Analytical results show that the hybrid conveyor-rubber wheel vehicles (MSV) system has highest rating compared to the other systems. Using the results of this study, we will be able to minimize the various transportation financial and non-financial costs for metro tunnel excavation.

    Introduction

Qom Subway line A project has been excavated by an Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) machine. New Excavation Method has been introduced which is based on controlled core-face Tunnel, indeed Controlled Deformation Rocks and Soils (ADECO-RS) in Tunnel. Numerical Simulations are used to Predict Surface Settlement for the Qom tunnel by TBM-EPB with Approach ADECO-RS and without Considering it. The longitudinal and transverse and Contour surface settlements obtained by numerical analyses are compared with Each other. The obtained numerical results for Excavation with TBM-EPB have been confirmed by the monitoring data using the installed instruments on site.

    Methodology and Approaches

In this study, the Flac3D software has been employed for carrying out 3D numerical modeling of Control settlement. In addition, the Mohr-Coulomb criterion has been considered for geo-mechanical behavior of soil material surrounding the tunnel. the results of numerical models have been verified by the data obtained from monitoring instruments installed in the site.

    Results and Conclusions

The numerical results have shown that the maximum transverse surface settlement of Excavation by TBM-EPB with Approach ADECO-RS is around 50% of the maximum surface settlement of the Excavation by TBM-EPB, In addition longitudinal Profiles shown that maximum surface settlement Excavation by TBM-EPB with Approach ADECO-RS occurred about 15m behind face of the tunnel, leads to a decrease of 7.5m in the surface settlement without Approach ADECO-RS. The results have shown control core-face leads to control surface settlement and the Approach ADECO-RS can be used for Control of surface settlement trough induced by tunneling in the similar ground and excavation conditions as Qom subway tunnels.

Batter piles up to 45° inclination are used in some giant projects such as bridges, oil platforms, store pits, power plants, vertical car parks, and even some constructed buildings on poor soils. However, the effects of tunneling on the pile tip strength, buckling of piles and surface settlement are various. This research intends to study the stress-displacement behavior of surface ground during tunneling in vicinity of batter piles. Finite Element Method (FEM) has been used to investigate the effect of position and inclination of the piles on the induced surface displacement. After validation and estimation the efficiency of the FE code, model development has been done by comparing the inclination in three degrees (10°, 20° and 30°) and three different lengths of the piles (15m, 21m and 27m). The results showed that in all the lengths and inclinations of piles, the maximum settlement of pile element is higher than the maximum surface settlement and it is higher than the maximum settlement of pile head

Summary Gravity flow in caving underground mining is a key parameter that effects on dilution and ore recovery. In order to have a successful operation in caving mining, it is necessary to evaluate and estimate the gravity flowability of ore and waste. From past to now, several researchers focused on study of gravity flow by different methods like mathematical, physical and numerical methods. In this study, the gravity flowability of ore and waste in caved zone of Sechahoon Anomaly No. XII was estimated by physical modeling. Then by using DEM modeling, a model based on physical model was created to use for future studies. Introduction In recent studies, sublevel caving method was selected for Sechahoon Anomaly No. XII. In sublevel caving method, we encounter with key parameters like cavability, gravity flow, blastability and subsidence. Therefore, gravity flow study is an important parameter that should be estimated. Gravity flow is studied by several researchers from past to now. These studies carried out by different methods like mathematical, physical and numerical methods. Methodology and Approaches In this study, the physical method was selected for gravity flow modeling. Therefore, a model was designed by a 1:10 scaled, tunnel width, ring height, burden and tunnel height equal to 50, 150, 20 and 40 cm, respectively. The model was filled by iron ore and waste that have a size distribution between 0 to 25 mm. Results and Conclusions The physical modeling results shows that: • Recovery of iron ore is equal to 63 percent. • The angle of repose of iron ore and waste are 43 and 38 degree, respectively. • The shape of gravity flow is similar to common model that presents the validity of model. • Digging depth is equal to 11 cm. • Based on Kvapil suggestion, 48 percent of ore was classified as class A and 20 percent as class B. By using the results of physical modeling, a numerical model is created and validated with physical modeling results in order to avoid from physical modeling problems and use for future studies that are useful in gravity flow studies.

Summary The design and construction of underground reservoirs is of great importance because of our country have rich resources of oil and gas. In order for structure to resist against the blast, geofoam, an effective form of geosynthetics, could be a suitable solution. In this study, two types of soils and three types of geofoam with five different amounts of TNT were simulated. By using Ls-Dyana softwares, this research tries to model a tank in soil using geofoam in order to analyze pressure reduction and damage to the tank. Introduction The current research is a parametric study of the behavior of Tanks buried in the soil under blast loading. The effects on the physical properties of Reinforcement Concrete, soil and TNT were investigated. The LBE method was used in LS-DYNA software and the effects were compared. The results show that higher density soil caused higher pressure transfer to the Tanks buried. Explosions in lower density soil resulted in less damage to the Tanks buried because the soil acted as a damper under the waves of explosion. Tanks buried in soil with a lower density can use Tanks buried with lower resistance because the soil will act as a damper and transmit less pressure to the Tanks buried. Methodology and Approaches The current research is a parametric study of the behavior of Tanks buried in the soil under blast loading. The effects on the physical properties of Reinforcement Concrete, soil and TNT were investigated. The LBE method was used in LS-DYNA software and the effects were compared. Results and Conclusions In this study, two types of soil and three types of geofoam with five different amounts of TNT were used for simulation. The software used for conducting the analysis is Ls-Dyna. The use of lower density soils can reduce the pressure on the tank, while in higher density soils the pressure on the tank increases. One of the most important findings of this study is reduction of pressure on the tank by 60% as a result of using low density soils. Furthermore, an increase in the TNT distance and a decrease in the TNT content were associated with a 52% and a 25% decrease in pressure on the tank, respectively.

In this study, the effect of some of the most important operational parameters of the tunnel boring machine (EPBM) has been investigated at the time of the tunnel excavation on the ground deformation and surface subsidence. The basis of this research is the finite difference method (FDM) using FLAC3D software. The numerical model was first constructed based on geotechnical parameters (physical and mechanical characteristics) of the Tehran Subway Southern Extension Tunnel-Line 6 and then calibrated and verified based on the "invisible tunnel" method. The results showed that by decreasing the boundary pressure on the face and the annulus, there is no significant change in the increase in the level of the surface subsidence. Also, the results of parametric analysis of the injection pressure of the grout showed that applying the pressure of the grout equivalent to the vertical geostatic stress relative to the horizontal geostatic stress in the tunnel face has more effect on the control of surface deformation and subsidence.
