Fraxinus excelsior L. is a forest species with versatile biological and medicinal activities that its extracts are used as a model for making new compounds in the treatment of various human diseases. In this study, in order to investigate how the biochemical characteristics of this forest species are affected by environmental conditions, four habitats of Perchink, Amreh, Alandan and Qarnsara with an altitude of 200 to 1400 meters, were selected in Tajan and Siahroud watersheds located in Mazandaran province. In each habitat, skin samples were taken from 3 trees (repeated) in summer. Ethanol extracts were obtained by maceration and were analyzed by GC/MS and the physical and chemical properties of the soil samples were measured. The most important compounds of extracts were included:  benzeneethanol (30.33-51.35%), d-allose (6.20-31.72%), scopoletin (14.65-26.83%), tyrosol acetate (5.37-9.06%), carvacrol (0-4.93%), homovanillyl alcohol (3.84- 6.53%) which increased with increasing altitude. Also, there was negative relationship between the identified compounds and soil nutrients. Among them, only polyphenol tyrosol acetate behaved differently from the other compounds in a way that showed a negative relationship with the altitude factor and a positive correlation with the amount of carbon and absorbable phosphorus in the soil. Also, the chemical composition of d-allose was not observed in Perchink habitat. These results were showed that the chemical properties of this tree skin are affected by habitat conditions, which caused increases the species' resistance to pathogens. As a result, considering that the amount of active ingredients in this species was higher at higher altitudes and the presence of these compounds increases the resistance to pathogens, it seems planting this species is more productive at higher altitudes to achieve multiple goals in afforestation.

In medicinal plants, the production of secondary metabolites, especially essential oils, are affected by various environmental factors, including salinity. In this study, in order to investigate the effect of different levels of salinity stress and nano- ZnO on the quantitative and qualitative yield of essential oil (EO) composition of Salvia leriifolia Benth. a factorial experiment was performed with five salinity levels (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mM NaCl) and three levels of nano-ZnO (0, 2 and 4 mg. liter -1) in a completely randomized design with three replications in the greenhouse of Mashhad Islamic Azad University in 2019. Extraction of EO from the vegetative shoot of the plant was carried out by water distillation using clevenger apparatus. EO analysis was performed using a gas chromatograph and chromatography attached to a mass spectrometer. The analysis of EOs was carried out by Gas chromatography/mass spectrometric (GC/MS). Based on the results, the effect of different levels of salinity stress on dry weight, EO percent and its yield was significant, but the application of zinc nanooxide only affected the EO and its yield. With increasing salinity stress, leaves dry weight, EO percent and EO yield significantly decreased, but all traits increased by increasing the nano-ZnO concentration at high salinity levels. 1, 8-cinnamol, was the highest composition of plant EO, which increased by 43% with increasing salinity. isopinocaruel, carotene, and endobronol compounds decreased at low salinity levels and then increased at 200 mM salinity level. Also, increasing the nano-ZnO concentration increased the levels of endo-Borneol, 1, 8-cineol and ß-pinene and decreased the levels of isopinocarveol, carotol and α-cadinol.

Dracocephalum kotschyi Boiss. is one of the most important medicinal plants of the Lamiaceae family, which is endangered due to unfavorable environmental conditions. in order to evaluate the effectiveness of biofertilizers on changes in some physiological and biochemical traits, the effect of biofertilizers at four levels on Dracocephalum kotschyi growth under drought stress at three levels (irrigation until the completion of 80%, 60 and 40% of field capacity), an experiment was carried out in 2019. The study of changes in photosynthetic pigments, chlorophyll fluorescence and leaf relative water content in D. kotschyi in response to various biofertilizers and different irrigation regimes showed that with increasing drought stress, chlorophyll a, b and total chlorophyll along with chlorophyll fluorescence (Fv/Fm) had a significant decrease. While the use of supernitroplus and biophosphorus biofertilizers in irrigation conditions up to 60 and 40% of field capacity significantly increased the above-mentioned traits in the D. kotschyi leaves in comparison with the plants treated with nitroxin fertilizer and control plants. Increased drought intensity also caused a significant increase in carbohydrates, soluble proteins, anthocyanins and flavonoids, although the use of biofertilizers containing growth-promoting bacteria, further enhanced the amount of these compounds compared to the control. The highest levels of anthocyanins (37.82 mg g-1 fresh weight) and flavonoid compounds (16.62 mg g-1 fresh weight) were found in plants grown under severe drought stress (irrigation up to 40% of field capacity) and Biophosphorus application. Based on the results, the use of biofertilizers supernitroplus and biophosphorus improved the physiological and biochemical properties of D. kotschyi under both drought and non-water stress conditions. The increase in traits indicates a kind of adaptation to drought stress conditions.

Tea (Camellia sinensis L.) is a woody and perennial plant belonging to the Theaceace family. In this study, we evaluated the diversity of tea plant ecotypes from Langroud, Lahijan and Siahkal regions (ten ecotypes in each region) as three major tea growing regions in Iran during 2019. Traits such as fresh and dry weight, chlorophyll a, b and total, caffeine, polyphenols, percentage of total ash and water soluble and insoluble ash were measured. The analysis of variance showed a significant difference (P≤0.01) between tea ecotypes for all traits. The highest dry and fresh leaf weight was obtained in Siahkal ecotype (code 11). Siahkal ecotype (code 13) had the highest percentage of caffeine (7.63%), whereas Lahijan ecotype (code 21) represented the maximum amount. The highest amount of chlorophyll a and total chlorophyll was observed in Siahkol ecotype (code 18) and the highest amount of chlorophyll b was observed in Lahijan ecotype (code 30). The maximum (9.45%) and minimum (3.1%) polyphenols (9.45%) were obtained in Siahkal (code 16) and Lahijan (code 21), respectively. Siahkal (code 18), Siahkal (code 12) and Lahijan (code 21) represented the optimum total ash, soluble and insoluble ash in water, respectively. In general, ecotypes belonging to Siahkal region (codes 11, 13, 16 and 18) can be used in planning breeding projects and deciding to select suitable parents in hybridization to increase tea yield and phytochemical properties.
