    Background and Objective

One of the essential concepts of the Persian medicine (PM) is temperament (mizaj), which have a special contribution in health maintenance. In the present study we aimed to investigate the association of the hand digit ratio with the temperament types and the symmetry of this ratio between the two hands in each group to see whether these properties have a potency to be applied as an index for mizaj identification.

    Methods

The study sample included 323 women aged between 20 to 32 years old. In order to obtain 2D:4D ratio, both hands were photographed from the palm side and then the length of index and ring fingers were measured using image J. Participants’ temperament type was identified using a standard self-reported questioner.

    Findings

In respect of the digit ratio, there was no significant difference between the study groups neither in right nor in left hands (kruskal wallis test for right hand: chi-square=3.985, df=8   p=0.858; for left hand: chi-square=4.311, df=8   p=0.828). However, the results of paired sample t-test showed a significant higher digit ratio in the right hand compared to the left hand in the cold-moist group (t=3.28, df=66, p=0.002).

    Conclusion

The results of this study did not support the relationship between the digit ratio and temperament. However, individuals with cold-moist temperament showed asymmetry of the digit ratio. This finding suggests that the digit ratio asymmetry may has a potency to use as an index in the cold-moist mizaj identification.

Secretory antibodies produced by B lymphocytes mediate humoral immunity. B-cells develop after maturation in bone marrow from stem cells to obtain the necessary properties to identify and combat against pathogens. B lymphocytes settle in peripheral lymphoid tissues to interact with foreign antigens. The activation of B cells in the peripheral lymphoid tissues lead to the proliferation, differentiation, and production of memory B cells and antibody-secreting plasma cells. The production of memory B cells requires the formation of germinal centers that act as a site for affinity maturation and B cells acquire the necessary changes to detect antigens and produce long-lived plasma cells. In this review, we will focus on related mechanisms of germinal center formation and production of antibodies.

    Background and objective

In recent years, there has been a great deal of concern related to drug pollutants in water resources. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the biochar obtained from the pine bark in removing of diclofenac from aqueous solutions.

    Methods

In this batch study, the effect of various variables such as pH (2-12), adsorbent dose (0.1- 2 gr), initial concentration of diclofenac (50- 500 mg/L), contact time (10-120 min) and temperature (10- 50°C), as well :as char:acterization of the biochar were investigated with BET, FTIR and FESEM techniques. The isotherm, kinetics and thermodynamics of the adsorption process were evaluated.

    Findings

The highest removal of diclofenac (80.4%) was at pH 6.2. In this study, the adsorption efficiency of diclofenac increased with increasing the adsorbent dose and decreased with increasing the initial concentration of diclofenac. The adsorption isotherm of diclofenac fitted to Langmuir model with maximum adsorption capacity was 54.64 mg/g. The kinetics of the adsorption process followed by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and thermodynamic parameters showed the diclofenac adsorption onto the biochar was exothermic and spontaneous.

    Conclusion

Based on the results, the adsorption efficiency of diclofenac by the biochar of the pine bark is suitable and it can be efficient for removal of diclofenac from hospital and other pharmaceutical compounds producers’ wastewaters.

    Introduction

Awareness of resilience and its relationship with a healthy lifestyle has a significant impact on improving working conditions, personal life, and psychological issues of people. The present study was conducted to investigate the status of resilience and health-promoting lifestyle, as well as the relationship between them, in the staff of Shahid Yahyanejad Hospital in Babol, northern Iran.

    Materials and Methods

The present cross-sectional study was performed during March-June 2021. Questionnaires related to resilience and health-promoting lifestyle were completed by individuals. The range of total resilience and health-promoting lifestyle scores were 0-100 and 52-208, respectively. Higher scores indicate better status of individuals. Data underwent the descriptive and Pearson correlation coefficient analyses.

    Results

Finally, a total of 207 people were included in the study, of whom 104 (50.2%) were male and 103 (49.8%) were female. The mean scores of resilience and health-promoting lifestyle among the staff were 62.75 and 131.69, respectively. There was a significant direct correlation between resilience and health-promoting lifestyle (correlation coefficient = 0.555, p<0.001). There were also significant direct correlations between health-promoting lifestyle and different dimensions of resilience.

    Conclusion

Based on the results of this study, the total mean scores of resilience and lifestyle-promoting health were moderate. There was also a direct correlation between resilience and health-promoting lifestyle. It is suggested to teach the resilience skills to the staff and propel them to lifestyles and behaviors that improve their health and raise their tolerance threshold in facing the problems.

Human coronavirus (CoV) infection is accompanied by upper and lower respiratory symptoms. It can infect the central nervous system and cause neurological symptoms (including stroke) (1). Although recent studies have reported the coronavirus's neurological consequences, the neurological manifestations of coronavirus are also ignored (2). In this paper, we will discuss the neurological effects of this virus by introducing a stroke after infection by CoV to help diagnose this disease earlier to prevent its side-effects.
