    Background and Objective

Aq Qala plain is one of the fertile plains of Golestan province. Runoff accumulation and flood formation cause a lot of human and financial losses. Understanding the temporal and spatial distributions of soil surface moisture is a key variable in simulating runoff and reducing flood hazards in the research area. In this study, the soil moisture content was investigated using data from ALOS PALSAR-2 radar satellites in the L band and Sentinel 1 in the C band.

    Materials and Methods

In this research, three series of ALOS PALSAR-2 radar data, Sentinel 1, and optical data of Sentinel 2A were used. To calculate the soil surface moisture, first soil samples were taken and weighed at a depth of 5 cm in each cluster by weight method. After drying the samples in the oven, the dry and wet weight was calculated. Then two important parameters of soil moisture, including dielectric constant and soil surface roughness were measured. The dielectric constant was calculated using TDR and the roughness was calculated using two digital cameras. Using Agisoft photo scan and Arc GIS software, a digital elevation model and surface roughness profiles were extracted. Radar data were processed with SNAP software from the European Space Agency (ESA). The processing steps included radiometric calibration, sigma note extraction in decibels, filtration of Lee filter and 5x5 kernel size, geometric correction and finally geocoding of all three data. With Sentinel-2 optical data, while preparing vegetation and moisture indices, a land-use map was prepared with the Forrest random algorithm. Then, with the values of roughness, dielectric constant and plant and moisture indices in MATLAB 2019 software environment, two models Oh, and WCM were coded and the soil moisture values were calculated and taken out. Then the moisture obtained from the surface redistribution model with gravity, moisture at the site, and previous studies was evaluated.

    Results and Discussion

In terms of radar signal sensitivity to soil surface moisture in Oh model in HH and HV polarization ALOS PALSAR- 2, in  with R2 = 0.86,  with R2 = 0.905 and for Sentinel-1 images, in  with R2 = 0.91 and  with R2 = 0.93 are sensitive to soil surface moisture. The surface backscattering coefficients sensitivity of the Oh model in ALOS PALSAR-2 in HH polarization and in HV polarization and for Sentinel-1 data in VV polarization and in VH polarization is sensitive to surface roughness. Also, the surface backscattering coefficients sensitivity of the Oh model in ALOS PALSAR-2 in HH polarization with R2 = 0.96 and in HV polarization with R2 = 0.94 and for Sentinel-1 data in VV polarization with R2 = 0.72 and in VH polarization with R2 = 0.74 is sensitive to surface roughness. Relationship between total surface backscattering coefficients obtained from the Water cloud model and soil surface moisture measured in HH and HV polarization PALSAR-2 images, in  and  with R2 = 0.73 and R2 = 0.399, respectively, and for Sentinel-1 data in polarization VV and VH, in  and  with R2 = 0.073 and R2 = 0.13, respectively, are sensitive to soil surface moisture. In the soil moisture estimation section based on Oh model for PALSAR-2 and Sentinel-1 data on bare lands in HH and HV polarization for PALSAR-2,  and  with R2 = 0.88, RMSE = 1.924  and R2 = 0.93, RMSE = 1.45  for Sentinel-1 data, respectively,  and  are with R2 = 0.81, RMSE = 2.57  and R2 = 0.97, RMSE = 0.90 , respectively. The results of Oh model showed that in HV polarization, Pulsar-2 images and VH sentinel-1 polarization images have stronger soil moisture results. Soil moisture results in WCM model in vegetated lands for PALSAR-2 images in HH and HV polarization in  and , respectively, with R2 = 0.81, RMSE = 2.44  and R2 = 0.78, RMSE = 2.64 , R2 = 0.88, RMSE = 1.924  for Sentinel-1 in  and  with R2 = 0.75, RMSE = 2.74  and R2 = 0.76, RMSE = 2.69 , respectively. In the discussion of estimating soil moisture with WCM model, the results of PALSAR-2 in polarization HH with R2 = 0.81  in lands with vegetation density of more than 0.4% have better results.

    Conclusion

In the Oh model, the results showed that the sensitivity of HV polarization in PALSAR-2 images and VH polarization in Sentinel-1 in an area with vegetation density less than 0.4 is much higher than the polarization sensitivity of HH PALSAR-2 and polarized VV Sentinel-1. Also, the HH polarization sensitivity of PALSAR-2 and VH Sentinel-1 polarized images to surface roughness is higher than other polarizations. In the Water cloud model, the results obtained from Sentinel-1 data by eliminating the effects of vegetation and simulating the surface backscattering coefficients are very poor. Has reduced the penetration of the wave. The results showed that the polarization sensitivity of HH in areas with vegetation with a density of more than 0.4 was much higher than the polarization sensitivity of HV, also the sensitivity of the radar signal to noise was low in polarized HH but high in polarized HV. This showed that the polarization of the HH matrix is sensitive to vegetation, so the model will be more stable in the presence of vegetation. A comparison of two SAR data in the range showed that PALSAR-2 images are more efficient for estimating soil surface moisture in the study area and similar areas due to their long wavelength and depth of penetration into soil and vegetation. In line with the research topic, other researchers, including Alishan et al. A study has attempted to estimate soil surface moisture in barren lands using PALSAR-2 and Sentinel-1 data, which concluded that the WCM model eliminates plant water content. And surface moisture estimation using the inverse model was high in both PALSAR-2 and Sentinel-1 data. A study by Zaribi et al. Showed that the OH model in both polarized HV and HH with lower RMSE is able to estimate soil surface moisture. This research is suitable for environmental management, agriculture, natural resources, and water resources management and contributes significantly to hydrological modeling.

    Background and Objective

The degradation of resources in many parts of the world is a serious threat to humanity due to its growing trend. Desertification, which is one of the manifestations of this degradation, has affected most countries and has been introduced as the third challenge of the 21st century after the two challenges of climate change and freshwater scarcity. Desertification is the degradation of land in arid, semi-arid, and semi-humid areas. This situation is caused by a series of important processes, the most important of which are the two factors of human activity and climate change. Several methods have been developed to determine the process of desertification, one of which is widely used, the Medalus method. Assessing the status of desertification processes (land degradation) in a village, region or country is important because it provides the opportunity to make informed decisions about the financial dimension and the amount of investment needed to control it. Considering the development of the desertification phenomenon in the Sefiddasht-Borujen region and the need to pay attention to the importance of the results of this destructive phenomenon in the future. The purpose of this study is to evaluate desertification using the Madalus model in the Sefiddasht-Borujen watershed with an area of 92565 hectares, located in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province.

    Materials and Methods

Land use changes were investigated and detected using the distance measurement model. For this purpose, the images of 1998, 2009, and 2018 were used. The amount of changes during this period was determined, and the points where the most changes occurred were selected. Then using these points, in the Medalus model, the factors affecting desertification and its current situation were considered. Then, the effective parameters in desertification were studied in these points separately and the Medalus model was implemented in them. According to the Medalus method, effective factors in the desertification of the region were identified and each factor including climate, vegetation, soil, groundwater, and management and policy was considered as a criterion. Then, the characteristics of the mentioned criteria that were effective in the desertification of this region were considered as indicators. After each indicator received weight in relation to its impact on desertification and by evaluating them, their impact of them on the desertification process was determined. Finally, using the indicators of these criteria, the criteria map and finally, the desertification map were obtained from their geometric mean n order to study the climate criteria, three indices of rainfall, direction, and drought index were considered. The study of the climate was evaluated from 3 sample points in the meteorological and water weight stations of the province, which are harvested as points. To evaluate the soil condition, some physical and chemical properties such as soil texture, acidity, electrical conductivity, and the amount of organic matter were selected. To determine the soil properties, the first 170 sampling points were identified in the study area, and from 0 to 20 cm soil level, sampling was performed and transferred to the laboratory.

    Results and Discussion

The results showed a score of climatic criteria calculated at 1.80 was determined in two classes and had the most role in desertification in the region. The score of management and policy, vegetation, and soil criteria respectively were calculated at 1.76, 1.71, and 1.55 and was determined into two classes severe and very severe. Also, water criteria were calculated at 1.33 and were determined in the middle class. Based on the Medalus model, the current desertification score was estimated to be 1.63. According to this map, the desertification situation of the region was divided into two classes, severe and very severe. Finally, it was calculated that 56% of this area is faced with severe and 44% of it very severe desertification. The result showed that the northern part of the study area is highly vulnerable, while the southern part of the region is less vulnerable to desertification. However, this region has high desertification intensity. The foretold sensitivity of this region to the phenomenon of desertification was consistent. In this model, climate, soil, vegetation, groundwater, management, and policy criteria were selected. According to the results, climate, management, policy, vegetation, soil, and groundwater criteria, respectively, had the greatest impact on desertification of this region due to the low precipitation, drought in recent years, illegal excavation of wells, and uncontrolled extractions more than the capacity of groundwater aquifers in Sefiddasht has caused the drying of most wells in this area. Also, the drying of Dehno Wetland is another reason for the intensity of desertification in the study area.

    Conclusion

According to the obtained results, the phenomenon of desertification in this region is accelerating and would cause a destructive consequence. The study area, according to the proposed definition of desertification, has both natural and human desertification conditions. Natural factors such as unfavorable climatic conditions such as lack of rainfall, successive droughts, limited water resources, on the one hand, and destructive human factors such as traditional agricultural system, overgrazing, overexploitation of groundwater, conversion of pastures to land Agriculture, industries, mines and facilities, destruction of vegetation and shrubs, on the other hand, have led to the destruction of pastures and natural resources and accelerated desertification in the region. Evidence shows that in this region water table is lower than in other areas and as a consequence desertification is accelerated. Among the ways to deal with desertification in the region, it is possible to use the pastures and pastures in principle, according to their capacity at the right time, to permanently enclose the region under biological and mechanical desertification activities, proper exploitation of groundwater and prevents land use change.

    Background and Objective

Earthquake In addition to the destructive effects of man-made structures, earthquakes also have different effects on surface water resources. Earthquakes always increase or decrease the water flow depending on its intensity, time, direction, and profundity. It may even cause the springtime fountain to flow that has dried up over the years. The use of remote evaluation technology in various earth sciences is very common compared to geocentric methods due to the wide coverage of satellite images, the timeliness of images, and its little cost. Also, one of the important and unique capabilities of digital satellite data is its temporal, spatial, spectral, and radiometric resolution. These important features of satellite imagery allow for important studies such as the evaluation and monitoring of dynamic phenomena such as quantitative changes in water resources in temporal and spatial dimensions. Because in some cases the information obtained from a sensor alone does not meet the desired needs. Although optical multispectral data provide rich spectral information of various effects, it is significantly affected by environmental factors such as smoke, fog, clouds, and the amount of sunlight. Unlike optical sensors, radar data with virtual aperture (SAR) is independent of different weather and radiation conditions, as well as the sensitivity of its signal, scatter to target parameters such as structure (shape, orientation, size), roughness, and moisture content of the features can provide more information about the study area, but on the other hand, radar images cannot clearly identify the details and edges of objects. Therefore, combining different properties of optics images and radar data using image integration techniques can provide a more complete view of the target and provide higher accuracy and reliability for the results obtained from this method. In the present perusal, in order to achieve the above purpose, using satellite data and the image combination method, the data have been standardized in such a way that they can be used together in the form of a dataset for processing.

    Materials and Methods

Using the method of combining satellite images of quantitative changes of surface water resources, affected by the SARPOL-E-ZAHAB earthquake in the course of 7 days, 11/11/2017 to 17/11/2017, using radar data (S_1A-IW-SLC), With 100 m spatial baseline and Landsat 8 (OLI) optical data, and obtained by applying remote evaluation techniques and indicators to detect changes in water resources, including Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), Modified normalized difference water index (MNDWI) in ENVI software environment and then analysis in ArcGIS software environment.

    Results and Discussion

Examination of the results of quantitative changes in surface water resources shows that in the time period of 7 days after the earthquake in the study area, the highest amount of small changes (in a decreasing manner) occurred in dams (HAMMAM Strait and GILANGH-GHARB Dam). As the Strait of HAMMAM dam decreased by 0.13 square meters and the Gilan GHARB dam decreased by 0.07 square meters. Also, small changes occurred in the surface (SARPOL-E-ZAHAB SARAB-GARM) (drinking water source of the region), SIRVAN river and canals), and there were a total of 7523421 square meters of changes in the surface water resources of the study area after the earthquake.

    Conclusion

The earthquake caused the outflow of groundwater and decreased the volume of dams in the region and fed the surface rivers of the region, including (the Sirvan river) and finally caused water loss and in some places caused the drying of springs and Damage to normal living conditions.

    Background and Objective

Landform refers to any physical feature of the surface with a recognizable structure and shape. Landform elements and structural forms of the terrain surface could, directly and indirectly, drive many other environmental variables. Numerical representation of the surface and uneven pattern of the earth is a common topic in geographical, geomorphological, geological, and geophysical hazard mapping as well as sea-bed exploration. The combination of the earth and computer science with mathematics and geomorphometric engineering interacts with discrete and continuous landforms. Geomorphometry dates back to about 150 years ago and the work of Alexander von Humboldt and geomorphologists, and today with the revolution in computer science and especially digital computer models is developing rapidly. Detection and classification of landforms are of interest to GIS developers, geoscientists, and geomorphometry researchers. In this way, the desired work units are extracted with higher speed and accuracy and used in the form of vector and raster maps. Existing approaches are mainly based on height, terrain derivative, gradient, curvature, flow direction, slope position, morphometric indices, and the like. Also, less attention has been paid to the challenge of matching the diagnostic scale with the Landform scale, and most models have this shortcoming. On the other hand, less attention has been paid to the possibility of vectorization output results and also to the analysis of sensitivity and temporal response algorithms to machine processing. In this research, we attempted to recover and resolve the mentioned shortcoming and problems in the previous works. In this research, using basic algorithms of raster analysis and coding, new methods and algorithms for the automatic detection of landforms have been developed. Focal raster analysis is also emphasized and the moving window technique is used to implement the algorithms. Facing the scale challenge, sensitivity analysis, and the response algorithms to input changes as well as accuracy assessment are other aspects that have been addressed in this research.

    Materials and Methods

In this study, the Digital Surface Model (DSM) published by the Japan Space Agency in May and October 2015 with a horizontal resolution of about 30 meters was used to work on the topography of the region. These data are obtained from ALOS satellite images. This database is based on DSM data (5m network version) 3D topography, one of the most accurate elevation data on a global scale. The digital elevation model was transformed into a matrix structure using a Python coding environment. Then, raster analysis was implemented using the moving window technique. The moving window algorithm was coded in a way that the dimensions of the moving window could be freely determined and changed. In proportion to the size of the moving window, some adaptive algorithms are implemented to automatically correct and organize the edge effect in proportion to the size of the moving window. In this study, automatic landform detection was performed using spatial analysis of kernel patterns in the raster grid of digital elevation models and the results were presented in the form of three algorithms applied in the detection of topographic peaks and ridges. These algorithms include Multilevel Mean Summit Recognition Algorithm (MLMSR), Complex Multilevel Summit Recognition Algorithm (CMLSR), and Single Point Summit Recognition (SPSR). Each of these three algorithms was first conceptually designed and then coded and executed using the Python programming language. In the next step, the sources of error and specific scenarios of the algorithms were examined. The sensitivity of each algorithm related to the dimensions of the moving window, the resolution, and the size of the raster file, was evaluated, and finally, the accuracy and validation of the three models, using reference layers that were manually prepared and plotted, were assessed. All the procedures were designed in a way that could easily be implemented in an official software and were completely compatible with the structure of machinery processing. Also, being automatic and working on different platforms where one of our priorities.

    Results and Discussion

In the automatic detection of peaks and ridges using a digital terrain model, kernel spatial pattern analysis was used. In this regard, three proposed algorithms in this field were designed, coded, and executed. The output results of each of the algorithms were presented in the form of a raster and vector data model. Accuracy and sensitivity assessments were performed by considering changes in moving window size, resolution, and raster grid size (row x column) for each of the algorithms. The MLMSR algorithm tends to be in a more binary result in the lower dimensions of the moving window, while the CMLSR and SPSR algorithms do not. In all algorithms, increasing the size of the moving window causes a more generalization ratio. CMLSR and SPSR algorithms are more suitable for cartographic and visual purposes due to the higher degree of grading in the results. Regarding the temporal performance (Runtime) or sensitivity to input changes, the SPSR algorithm performs better. This is especially important when the input file size (number of rows and columns) is large. According to the results of validation and accuracy evaluation, MLMSR and SPSR had better performance than, the CMLSR algorithm. Python programming language has been widely used in the design and implementation of all algorithms, as well as in the field of sensitivity evaluation and validation. Totally more than 500 lines of codes were done for this purpose. All algorithms are automated and are able to execute and store results in raster and vector format using machine processing.

    Conclusion

The results show that the MLMSR algorithm in smaller dimensions of the moving window is tending to more binary results, which is problematic in some graphical and cartographic applications, but the CMLSR and SPSR algorithms showed more gradual trends in their outputs and so, they performed better in this respect. Researchers who intend to study and develop in this field are advised to focus on adaptive algorithms and optimize the dimensions of the moving window in relation to the volume of input information and so, in this way, they increase the flexibility of algorithms in relation to input changes.

    Background and Objective

Human civilizations have long been formed along the rivers and water-rich areas, due to the need for water resources. Today, the growing trend of societies and the need for progress in various fields such as agriculture, housing, tourism, etc., have made the exploitation of water resources inevitable. The severe economic dependence of the country on the oil exports on the one hand, and the disregard for the potential income from different types of tourism, on the other hand, made in this study solve the problems concerning the tourism industry. While identifying a suitable place for investment in the margins of water resources, we will introduce the most crucial capacities for the growth and development of tourism in communities, including structures such as dams, rivers, and dikes correction. These structures prevent hazards such as floods, erosion, and sediment that impede sustainable development. Therefore, this research will help us in watershed management operations and tourism development, along with creating special landscapes and reducing the related expenditures. For this purpose, by preparing various scenarios for special conditions such as slopes and water canals, necessary measures such as the dikes correction can be done in the best way. Also, the present study may provide the managers and stakeholders with a better view of the field of watershed management and the tourism industry. The research questions are as follows: What are the advantages and disadvantages of constructing any type of dike for tourism?, and What is the impact of dikes correction on the catchments of the study area and its role in attracting tourists?. In today's world, where tourism is a lucrative and pervasive industry, it is possible to help attract more tourists and identify these attractions by linking the watershed management, tourism, and rural attractions. Corrective structures are small structures constructed, using simple materials such as wood, stone, stone and mortar, concrete, and gravel netting, to reduce the slope of the canals, reduce the speed of water flow, and control erosion. In this study, by determining the appropriate location of dikes correction, it has been attempted to show the role of watershed management operations in the development of tourism in an area and the ways of reducing the financial and human costs of natural threats caused by rainfall. Without carefully examining the proper location of the dikes correction, any measure will have adverse effects on rural areas, roads, farms, and gardens, as well as urban areas. By merely building some kinds of the dike, we could not hope to earn huge incomes from tourism. Therefore, in this research, the following goals would be pursued: Determining and identifying the places affected by the dikes correction plan in the study area, Preserving water and soil, preventing the erosion, and creating a tourism-friendly environment; Scientific review of the advantages and disadvantages of dikes correction; Reduction of damages resulted from the drought and creating a beautiful environment; Study of international ideas and experiences in this regard; Reviewing the works done in other areas and comparing it with the works in the study area; The performance of dikes in the study area in terms of rainfall status and its role in the rate of erosion and sedimentation; The impact of structures correction on human, social and physical capitals and its consequences for society.

    Materials and Methods

This applied study has been conducted in Khorramabad, the center of Lorestan Province-Iran. With an area of 4942 square kilometers and an altitude of 1148 meters above sea level and having a temperate climate, this area is one of the most important and largest catchments of the Karkheh River. Using the opinion of experts and applying the #C programming language for each of the hydrological criteria with the following sub-indicators, a weight is obtained. Using the effect of the weights on the created phase map and the geographical information system, a weight map is produced. Sub-indicators include water canals (grading the streams), wells, springs, and aqueducts (location of these resources downstream of these structures), topography with geological subsections (rock hardness), coverage, slope (division in the range of 5-70%), economic and social indicators (main roads and by-ways and location of villages) and two important land usage priorities (severe dependency on the type of land coverage with regard to the erosion) and faults prepared from the Geology map (1:25000). By merging all accessible maps, suitable locations will be selected to build correction dams in proper tourist areas.

    Results and Discussion

In this study, we examined the type of dikes correction in 8 random points of the study area, the results of which show the appropriateness of the implementation method of the study. Considering the objectives of the study and the importance of constructing each of the dikes correction in reducing the damages caused by erosion and sedimentation after rainfalls, and regarding the importance of the project in tourist attraction, and lastly to improve the performance of such projects, we will present the following suggestions: Implementation of studies in the margins of structures, for tourism development; Construction of fishing ponds in the path of correction structures and including a fishing program for tourists, with the aim of entertainment and creating inner peace; Reducing the pressure on water and land resources, by increasing currency earnings and entrepreneurship in the framework of ecotourism services; Maintaining and increasing the balance of water resources in order to attract tourists; Storage and preservation of seasonal waters in order to grow vegetation and increase the desire of tourists, in the dry seasons of the region; Piloting a part of the study area, with the aim of determining the role of dikes correction in attracting tourists and comparing it with other water resources; Using the knowledge of watershed management engineers in the scientific construction of various correction, in order to attract scientific tourists; Maximize the development of ecotourism with abandoned water resources.

    Conclusion

The analysis of the findings of this study reveals that in order to assume tourism as an applied industry, its various aspects should be considered; The most important strategies and suggestions presented to achieve this research goal are as follows: Providing simple, appropriate and practical solutions based on scientific principles to improve the employment situation, maintain and develop infrastructures, revitalize tourist sites (watershed structures) and sane financial resources. Prioritization in this way plays an effective role in making the watershed and tourism construction credits, purposeful.

    Background and Objective

Different vegetation covers have different albedo levels. On the other hand, surface albedo is one of the most important components of surface radiation balance, which can be used to identify severely degraded and desertified regions. Vegetation can be considered as one of the most important key components in arid regions to reduce the effects of erosion and desertification due to the effects of vegetation for land surface stability. Expansion of desertification and also changes in vegetation cover, could be change the surface Albedo. The purpose of this study is to determine the desertification intensity based on spectral indices, Albedo, Topsoil Grain Size Index (TGSI) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) using remote sensing technology. Identification the damaged areas with the lowest cost in the shortest time, using Sentinel-2 images with a spatial resolution of 10 meters is one of the objectives of this study. Also, this study will introduce the best indicator for monitoring desertification intensity in arid regions for the first time in the Sistan and Baluchestan region based on spectral indices using Sentinel-2 images.

    Materials and Methods

The following steps were performed to evaluate the intensity of desertification and identify the appropriate indicator in order to mapping the desertification intensity: 1) Selection the images and perform image preprocessing operations using SNAP software; 2) Calculation of TGSI, NDVI and Albedo indices; 3) Investigation the correlation between indices using SPSS®24 software. 4) Preparation of desertification intensity map of the region and obtaining the equation of desertification intensity using ArcGIS®10.3 software. In the first step of this research, Sentinel-2A satellite data related to MSIL-1C sensor was selected on August 20, 2020. The images were selected in such a way that the growing season of the plants is not annual and temporary, and also the day was selected when there is no cloud cover. The required images were downloaded and used from the URL address: http://scihub.copernicus.eu/.

    Results and Discussion

The results of linear regression between NDVI and Albedo indices showed that, these two indices had negative correlation, and the correlation coefficient in Souran and Zabol was 0.76 and 0.63, respectively. The results showed that with increasing NDVI, decreased of the albedo index occurred. Also, the results of linear regression model showed strong and positive relationship between TGSI and Albedo indices, as the correlation coefficient of Souran and Zabol was 0.78 and 0.81, respectively. The results showed that the TGSI and the albedo simultaneously decreased or increased. Desertification intensity in the study areas was determined based on the equation I= a × Index ± Albedo and also by using Natural Breaks (Jenks) method in ArcGIS software, desertification intensity of study areas classified to 5 degrees, 1. Without desertification, 2. Low desertification, 3. Moderate desertification, 4. Severe desertification, and 5. Extremely desertification. In this study Albedo, NDVI and TGSI indices were extracted based on Sentinel-2 satellite data. The results of linear regression between NDVI and Albedo showed that there is strong negative relationship between these indices that was consistent with the results of similar studies. The high and negative correlation, means that any increase in the vegetation cover will lead to decrease the Albedo. On the other hands the areas with high Albedo, indicate degradation of vegetation cover and bare soil. In the regions with sever desertification intensity, the value of surface Albedo was high and the vegetation cover was low. Classification of desertification intensity in Sistan region based on Albedo-NDVI model showed that 27.73% of the area were in the class of without desertification intensity, 18.03% in the low class, 32.92% in the moderate class, 20.3% were in the severe class and only 1.02% of the area were in the very severe desertification intensity class. Also, the classification of desertification intensity in Souran based on Albedo-NDVI model showed 4.82% of the area without desertification, 8.44% in low class, 50.97% in moderate class, 34.48% in severe class and 1.3% of the area were in very severe desertification class. The highest percentage of desertification intensity of the area were in the moderate class. The results of linear regression between TGSI and Albedo indices also showed that there is a positive and strong relationship between these indices. The results showed that the relationship between TGSI and Albedo indices was stronger than the relationship between NDVI and Albedo indices and in both regions the correlation coefficient was higher. One of the main reasons for this is the dispersion of vegetation cover in arid areas. The relationship between TGSI and Albedo better shows the spatial characteristics of vegetation-free areas as well as areas with very low vegetation cover to determine the intensity of desertification. The TGSI index reflects the coarse particle size of the topsoil, which has a positive relationship with the fine sand content of the topsoil. Whatever the larger particle size of the topsoil, will have the greater desertification intensity. In the areas where the content of fine sand in the topsoil is high, the high range of TGSI index will be seen.

    Conclusion

In this study, using Sentinel-2 multispectral images and remote sensing technique, we extracted the intensity of desertification in different arid regions of the Sistan and Baluchestan province, for the first time in Iran. Based on the spectral reflection that occurred from the ground and the spatial resolution of 10 meters, we studied the intensity of desertification in two areas. Based on the results of this research, we suggest to use the combination of Albedo-NDVI and Albedo-TGSI models in order to monitoring the desertification intensity in arid regions of Iran. The results of this study showed that areas without desertification and low intensity of desertification are better identified based on Albedo-TGSI model.
