In this study, the impact resistance of CAD/CAM fabricated dental restorations was investigated experimentally. For this purpose, after preparation of zirconia-yttrium oxide nano powder by sol-gel method, hot and cold pressing was performed, followed by 5-axis milling operation. Finally, the impact tests were carried out and the fracture energy was calculated. In this regard, the influence of yttria content, rotational speed of milling machine and curing temperature was evaluated. The obtained results indicated that by increase of the yttria content, the porosity of dental crowns increased, leading to the reduction of the impact strength. Also, it was observed that by increase of the rotational speed, the impact strength decreased. From the viewpoint of the curing temperature; it was found that in the range of 1300-1500 °C, the maximum impact strength was achieved. Finally, SEM images revealed the presence of very short cracks, being in the range of 0.2 - 0.4 µm.

In this study, wave propagation in a transversely isotropic monolayer is discussed. The purpose of this paper is to find Green’s functions of wave motion to find the stresses and displacements resulting from the wave propagation of harmonic forces applied on the monolayer surface. Wave propagation equations in a transversely isotropic monolayer are quite complicated equations with partial derivatives, in which potential functions are utilized to divide the governing equations into two individual equations. Then, the resulting governing equations are transformed into simpler equations considering the boundary conditions by using Hankel and Fourier series transform in the direction of radial and tangential components, respectively. A comparison-oriented approach is presented to ensure the accuracy of the obtained numerical results. Numerical wave propagation results for transversely isotropic monolayer are investigated under different frequencies, loads, and materials. One of the important results from this study is that the transversely isotropic material Glass/Epoxy has the maximum Green’s functions of stress and displacement and also the ring load causes the maximum frequency angle of the wave motion for Green’s functions of stress and displacement.

To improve the mixing of fuel and air in supersonic flows, various methods are used, including the implementation of a ramp ahead of the injection port. In the present work, the effect of ramp height on the area of double hydrogen jet cross-jet flow in supersonic airflow has been investigated numerically and the effect of ramp height on parameters such as mixing efficiency, effective mixing area ratio and stagnation pressure losses has been investigated. Numerical simulations have been performed using the solution of the three-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations with the two-equation sst k-ω turbulent model. Initially, the results of the numerical solution are validated with the experimental data. It was shown that the numerical solution results have good agreement with experimental data. Then, the effect of the presence of a ramp upstream of the injection port is numerically investigated for several ramps with different heights. The results show that by increasing the height of the ramp from zero to 6 mm, the mixing efficiency at the exit plane increases from 0.37 to 0.52 and the effective mixing area ratio at the exit plane increases from 0.059 to 0.1. Stagnation pressure losses also increase from 8% to 9%.

The response of thin steel plates subjected to gaseous mixture detonation loading is investigated analytically to determine the possible permanent deformation of center of steel plates clamped in triangular clamping frames. Deformation profiles of plates with different thicknesses under various pre-detonation pressures are investigated which shows large plastic deformations with the maximum deformation happening at the center of mass of the triangular plate. By adopting an energy method approach developed earlier for circular plates, and incorporating a newly developed condition, upper bounds are obtained for the center of mass deformation of the triangular plate. Besides, some important parameters, including plate thickness and yield strength were studied to show the exposed area effect on the deformation profile. The results from analytical studies demonstrate a good agreement compared with experiments and show that the center of mass displacement decreases greatly with involving thicker plate and strain rate influence. Energy method as a useful tool reveals that that midpoint deflection was decreased by the smaller size of the exposed area of the plate.

An analytical study on fluid induced dynamics of cantilever microbeam is presented in this paper. Modified strain gradient theory has been used to consider the effect of small sizes. By considering the interaction between structure and fluid, the governing equations of motion are derived from hyperbolic beam theory. Governing equations of motion are discretized with the Galerkin method, and then the solution is found numerically. The dynamic response of the system and the amplitude-velocity curves of the fluid flow at different values of small size parameters and fluid flow velocity are determined and the effects of these parameters are examined. The results show that the hyperbolic beam theory provides more accurate results than classical Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam theories. Each of the three theories exhibits different lock-in regions and maximum amplitudes of the microbeam. It is also relevant to note that Euler-Bernoulli's theory predicts natural frequencies more than the other two theories, which ignores the rotational inertia of the beam's cross-section. Timoshenko beam theory predicts higher oscillation frequencies than hyperbolic beam theory, however, when the length is increased, the natural frequencies for the two theories are almost identical.

In this research the main goal is to compare the performance of Vectorized High Order Expansions and SDRE method for vertical landing of booster. To this end, at first a comprehensive study of references related to both Vectorized High Order and SDRE method has been performed. Then, the Vectorized High Order Expansions method and the implementation in optimal control problems has been introduced. After that, the SDRE method has been reviewed briefly, and the landing problem has been solved using both methods. To evaluate the performance, a set of various simulations have been performed for both methods and with respect to different initial deviations. By means of simulation results, the performance of both method is studied with regard to landing point errors. To achieve this, statistical results of terminal state errors have been calculated for both method with respect to different initial deviation to evaluate and compare both method, quality-wise.

One of the objectives of the present study is to optimize the effective parameters in the free sheet forming process under underwater explosive loading. In the experimental part, in order to investigate the effect of loading type on the maximum permanent deflection and thickness distribution of the plate, blasted-loaded plates due to 12 g and 4 g of explosive charge were used for single loading and repeated loading, respectively. Also, in order to investigate the effect of effective parameters on the process and optimize them, the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian method was firstly used for numerical simulation in ABAQUS finite element software. Then, in the optimization section, in order to investigate the simultaneous effect of explosive charge mass at each stage and the standoff distance on the maximum deformation and thickness of the sheet, Design-Expert software and Response Surface Methodology were used. The p-value obtained for the proposed model was less than 0.05, which indicates the significance of the model with a reliability of over 95%. The obtained results showed that the model provided by the software is suitable for this experiment and the values obtained from predicting the model are consistent with the experimental and numerical results. Also, the optimal conditions for the least change in plate thickness and the highest amount of permanent deflection were presented.

Fiber Metal Laminates (FML’s) are being used in many applications ranging from aircraft, submarines and ships to pressure vessels and automotive parts. In this study, the theoretical and numerical analysis of fiber metal laminates (FML’s) subjected to time-dependent uniform pressure load have been investigated. For this purpose, the plate is modeled based on the Reddy’s higher order shear deformation plate theory and the effects of the von Kármán geometric nonlinearity are included in the derivation of the motion equations. The FML is assumed to rest on the Pasternak foundation and simply supported boundary conditions are considered for all edges of the plate. Then, Nonlinear Partial differential Equations (PDEs) of motion are separated by using of the Galerkin method and finally solved using the Runge Kutta method. The results of conducted theoretical analyses compared with the presented results in the literature and good agreement is found. Also, in order to investigate the effective parameters, the effect of aspect ratio, Pasternak foundation and type of pressure pulses on the dynamic response of the plate have been examined. According to the obtained results, by reducing the positive phase time of loading and increasing the waveform parameter, the effect of the negative phase of loading is amplified and leads to an increase in dimensionless displacement in the center of the plate. Also, it was realized that the linear stiffness parameter in comparison with the shear layer parameter has less effect on the dynamic response.

In this research, the internal flow of open-end pressure-swirl atomizer, which has many applications in gas turbine engines and space propulsion, is investigated numerically. A multi-phase fluid volume model is used to simulate the internal flow of the atomizer. Also, due to the nature of the rotational flow inside the atomizer, the RNG k-ε turbulence model was used. Structured mesh has been used to achieve better results. In this research, spray parameters such as liquid film thickness, spray cone angle, discharge coefficient and velocity and pressure distribution contours have been studied. Simulation of an open-end atomizer with an L⁄D = 5 ratio, as well as the use of a structured mesh and the inclusion of kerosene fuel to create conditions close to the operation of a gas turbine, are among the things that differentiate the present study from other studies. The results also show that at a pressure of 0.5 MPa, the time required to reach the fuel in the atomizer used is less than 1.5 milliseconds and the failure of the to spray cone and turn into larger droplets can be observed. The spray angle and discharge coefficient for the studied atomizer were 74.8 and 0.17, respectively.

In this study, the thermal behavior of a five-component hybrid nanofluid Al2O3(40%)/SiO2(45%)/MWCNT(15%)-Water(60%)/EG(40%) for the first time in different laboratory conditions is analyzed. The study of this nanofluid is important because of the importance of carbon nanotubes, the fact that hybrid nanofluids have special properties and the few studies with the presence of three nanoparticles and two base fluids. Experimental measurements of thermal conductivity are performed by KD2 Pro in volumetric fractions of 0.05-0.9% and temperatures of 26-50°C. TEM, SEM and XRD analysis methods are used to identify and confirm the structure and morphology of nanoparticles. The results show that the relative thermal conductivity in the high volume fraction and temperatures is much higher than the low volume fraction. This is due to the increased kinetic energy and the presence of more nanoparticles. Also, increasing the temperature has a small effect on increasing the relative thermal conductivity. The highest increase in thermal conductivity is 28.3% in volume fraction and temperature of 0.9% and 50 ° C, respectively. The lowest increase in thermal conductivity is 1.4% at 26 ° C and volume fraction of 0.05%. The proposed model for predicting the thermal conductivity of nanofluid using the response surface method is so accurate that there is a good agreement between the modeling results and laboratory data. The values of R-squared=0.9936, CV%=0.55, -1.85%<MOD< 0.91%, p-value<0.05 and F-value=1059.23 indicate good modeling accuracy. The results of sensitivity analysis also indicate an increase in sensitivity with increasing volume fraction of nanoparticles.

In the present study, the buckling behavior of moderately thick spherical sandwich panels with grid stiffened core and shape-memory wires (SMA) reinforced layer is studied for the first time. The core of the panel is a grid structure and its cells are tetrahedral, and the outer layers are reinforced by SMA wires with a uniform, one-way distribution. The finite element method is used to perform the simulations. The Brinson model is used for SMA super-elastic behavior definition and fuzzy transformations are applied using the UMAT subroutine in ABAQUS software. The effect of effective geometric and mechanical parameters such as the radius of curvature of the shell, the volume fraction of SMA wires, and their prestressing on the buckling loads of the shell are verified. The results show that SMA wires cause recycled stresses that are applied as a tensile force on the upper layers of the shell. This characteristic increases the stiffness of the shell and leads the buckling load growth. If α =0.1, Increasing the volume fraction of SMA wires from 0 to 0.6% leads to the buckling load growth by 325%. In addition, the buckling load per unit volume of the shell with grid core and without grid core is 0.71 and 0.79, respectively, which indicates that the presence of grid core increases the specific buckling load by 11%. This increase, along with the reduction in the weight of the structure, highlights the importance of using sandwich structures with grid cores.

In this paper a robust flight control system is designed for the complete model of a six-degree-of-freedom nonlinear aircraft, without the need to reset the controller parameters and reconfigure it. To do this, a sliding mode controller has been used as one of the modern methods in robust control. Ensuring global and asymptotic robust aircraft stability using Lyapunov theory, in the presence of parametric uncertainties due to changes in flight speed, changes in aircraft altitude, as well as uncertainties due to external disturbances such as wind force, as well as uncertainties related to Inaccurate modeling of aerodynamic coefficients has been performed. The issue of saturation as well as the maximum rate of change of the output of the actuators is also taken into account to ensure that this method can be implemented practically. Finally, several simulations have been performed with different practical considerations to show the efficiency of the proposed method in different flight conditions.
