Bats with a wide range of distribution are considered as one of the most important indicators of environmental changes. In this study, the distribution range and suitable habitat patches of the large-tailed bat (Rhinopoma microphyllum) in Iran were investigated. First, the presence points of the species in the country were collected and then modeling was done using MaxEnt. The habitat variables used in this study are a combination of climate, human, vegetation and topographic variables. In order to implement the model, the bias file was used to select the pseudo-absence points of the background using the kernel density function within a radius of 50 km of the presence points. The model was carried out with 10 replications and the average prediction map was analyzed as the result map. The TSS threshold was used to identify habitat patches. Based on the results, the model was successful in the average performance (AUC=0.90) and differed from the random model in all thresholds (P-value <0.001). According to Jack Knife analysis, vegetation, climatic and topographic variables had the greatest effect on species distribution respectively. Thirty habitat patches were identified, the largest one started in the south and covered the western part of the country. Other distribution patches are scattered in the southeast and central parts of the country. The area of the patches varies from 221.04 Km2 as the smallest patches to 219416.78 Km2 as the largest patches and in total, they cover 15.9 percent of the country.

Natural and evolutional changes in ecosystems and pressures of human activities might cause changes in natural ecosystems. These changes affect the population and distribution of wildlife. Facing the current environmental challenges for protected areas, we asked how land cover changes affect distribution and population of large mammals in almost four decades in Golestan National Park. We extracted land cover data from the Landsat satellite for the past 44 years and classified them into three main habitat types including forest, scrubland and steppe areas using post-classification analysis approach in Arc-GIS and Envi 5.3k. The population data of Caspian red deer (Cervus elaphus), bezoar goat (Capra aegagrus), urial (Ovis vignei), goitered gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa), Persian leopard (Panthera pardus) from 1972 to 2017 was also collected. Our results showed that forests and scrublands have been shrinking 13.54% (4689 ha), 7.26% (2377 ha), respectively; however, In addition spatial analysis using the metric of remote sensing showed that the forest and scrubland habitats are under fragmentation. steppe area has increased 34% (6821ha). In addition, other results demonstrated that population of mammals have faced a severe decline: Caspian red deer (2100 vs. 260 individuals between 1974-2014), bezoar goat (4250 vs. 519 individuals between 1978-2014), Urial (4000 vs. 3800 between 1967-2017). We concluded that understanding the trends of land cover changes need to be taken into account to manage wildlife population trends.

Today, ostriches are bred industrially due to their different characteristics and the unique quality of their products. Many studies have been done to increase the productivity of this bird, but no studies have been done on the morphology and tissue of the small intestine. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the morphology and histomorphometry of the small intestine in ostrich chicks. For this study, ostrich chicks of 5, 15 and 30 days, and 6 samples each were used. All the chicks were fed in a warm room with a plastic plank floor and an initial ration, which met ostrich breeding standards. At the end of each age, chickens were anesthetized and small intestine was extracted for morphological and histomorphometric study. The data were evaluated using SPSS software and ANOVA test. The results showed that the weight and length of the small intestine, height and width of villi and crypt, number of goblet cells per in square millimeter, muscle layer and thickness of serous layer in the all three periods increased, but this increase was significant only on 30 day. Therefore, we conclude that the development of the small intestine in ostrich chicks occurs in the first month of life and for their better breeding, special attention should be paid to nutrition during this period.

Earthworms are considered to be among the largest biological resources in the terrestrial ecosystems and play important roles in ecosystems. Despite their biological, economic, and ecological importance, comprehensive information about their geographical distribution is not available in Iran. The distribution of the two dominant genera, Aporrectodea and Dendrobaena, was investigated in different habitats in Iran. Up to now, five species of Aporrectodea and seven species of Dendrobaena are reported from Iran, namely A. caliginosa (Savigny, 1826); A. jassyensis (Michaelsen, 1891); A. longa (Ude, 1885); A. rosea (Savigny, 1826); A. trapezoides (Dugès, 1828); D. byblica (Rosa, 1893); D. hortensis (Michaelsen, 1890); D. octaedra (Savigny, 1826); D. orientalis Cernosvitov, 1940; D. pentheri Rosa, 1905; D. semitica (Rosa, 1893); and D. veneta (Rosa, 1886). Based on relationship between habitat and richness of different species of these genera, the best habitat for distribution of the genera is the forest habitat. The forest habitat has more species richness than other habitats, due to higher levels of organic matter and moisture.

Habitat is one of the key parameters for species conservation. The first step for habitat management is to determine the factors affecting the distribution of species and species diversity.Plants, as the most stable and important organisms in any habitat, provide shelter and food for animal organisms and play an important role in life cycles. This research was conducted through field visits, interviews and the use of available statistics from the Wildlife Census in the year 2021. Some information on small mammals and plant type of Shirkuh no-hunting area was available from previous studies. There were 30 species of mammals and 19 species of plants in the Shirkooh Wildlife refug .The highest number of mammals was seen in the type (Artemisia sieberi- Noaeae mucronata- Stipa barbata). The number of species and the amount of richness indices in the species (Artemisia aucheri- Astragalus spp- Stipa barbata) was higher than other types. The results of Kruskalovalis test showed that the number of mammals, number of species and also the amount of Man-Henic index at the level of 0.01% and indices of species diversity and Alatalo at the level of 0.05% are significantly different from plant types. The pattern of distribution of animal species richness in large scale and in arid climate is influenced by various environmental factors and in this region the plant type, direction and latitude has been one of the important factors. The great diversity of plant types (type 19) has caused the richness of mammals in the region.

    Background

Effective anticonvulsant drugs each selectively suppress the abnormal activity of neurons to some degree. However, their mechanism of action and efficacy differ in different types of epilepsy disorders.

    Purpose

Investigation of histological effects of 4chloro-N (2-(4-methoxyphenil)-4-oxotiazolidin-3-yl)-2-phenoxybenzamid compared to Diazepam as a reference drug on Trichogaster trichopterus ‘s liver which has done at the fish lab of Islamic Azad University.

    Methods

In this study, 150 fish specimens with an average weight of 2 ± 0.5 gr were bought from Khan-mahi fish farm. This study was performed on 4 treatment groups (1, 3, 5, 7 mg/kg b.w.) and three controls including, control 1 (intact), control 2 (solvent tween 80), reference control (Diazepam 3 mg/kg.b.w). Before dropping fishes into the aquariums, dechlorination of water was performed in 24 hours, and physicochemical factors were measured. Injections were performed every other day for 20 days and all the treatments were anatomized and their livers put into the fixative to check by optical and electron microscope later.

    Results

The results showed that the ALT, AST and ALP were changed in controls to treatments. These results showed a significant difference between the control and the treatment groups (P≤0.05) Microscopic images also showed membrane changes, rupture, gaps between sinusoids, and necrosis at a dose of 5 mg /kg body weight and was in a dose-dependent.
