Despite its basic role and long history, the idea of "knowledge by presence" is not dealt with the way it worth it. In the history of Islamic philosophy and theology, the idea of knowledge by presence (or intuition) goes back to Fārābi. It seems that Ibn Sinā was the first philosopher to introduce this idea more clearly after Fārābi. He applies it to his philosophical system, developing a deep evolution in philosophy and epistemology. Then adding more instances, Shaykh Ishrāq expands the purview of knowledge by presence. His viewpoint represents a turning point, which culminates in its general acceptance among Muslim philosophers. In this article, the author brings together various definitions and criteria for knowledge by presence from a wide range of perspectives, and concludes that the criteria for its realization are connection and presence. But the question remains as to what is the origin of such a connection and presence. Different possible answers to this question are produced.

Philosophers have tried several arguments for God's unity. Mullā Ṣadrā deals with these arguments in detail, scrutinizing, reformulating, and modifying them in order to improve their accuracy. He singles out two arguments, namely, the truthful (sedighin) and soul arguments as the only correct and complete arguments in this regard. This article attempts to review and generally criticize Mullā Ṣadrā's approach in establishing the unity of the Almighty God, and points out some of its weaknesses. It also introduces some other interpretations of the truthful (sedighin) argument, suggested by philosophers after Mullā Ṣadrā; it mentions some problems with the soul argument, and criticizes and reconstructs the argument from the unity of the world. At the end, the author evaluates the idea of the impossibility to argue for the existence of God, and the ontological foundations of God's unity in the philosophy of Mullā Ṣadrā.

In nature, sometimes one cell from a living organism combines with another cell, producing a new organism. In the realm of mind also, propositions combine with each other and produce new knowledge. Furthermore, in nature, sometimes one cell produces another organism without combining with another one. The question is whether the same process can be repeated in the domain of arguments, that is, one proposition, without the help of another one, produces a new one. Some logicians believe that such a process is possible, and they call it "immediate argument" over against other types which are called "mediated arguments". Reviewing the rules governing propositions, the author in this article tackles the genealogy of immediate argument. He shows the inconsistency of this theory, and tries to conclude its falsity through arguments. After reflecting on some works by Ibn Sinā and Khādjeh Naṣir, the article makes an attempt to criticize De Morgan's idea regarding the universality of the deductive theory.

Cause and effect are real attributes of beings, considered important and basic intellectual categories. Exploring their facets, has led to the development of such theories as the gradation of existence which plays a pivotal role in the philosophical system of Mullā Ṣadrā. Therefore, analytical and strictly realistic understanding, along with differentiating their intrinsic from their extrinsic and accompanying attributes have a great potential for influencing how we understand them. One of the categories formed in the realm of a subject's encounter with reality is called "first/secondary intelligibles". The author, inspired by Mullā Ṣadrā's theory, tries to establish that despite the putative idea in this regard, the concept of existence and, consequently, those of cause and effect are first intelligibles. The aim of this article is to present an analytical picture of the nature of cause and effect. It deals with the definitions of cause and effect, their positions in the reflective function of mind, various theories about first and secondary intelligibles, and the influence the theory of "the essentiality of existence" has on the decision to incorporate them in first intelligibles.
