This paper considersthe problem of aliasing in information processing. The cubic spline method of interpolating the uniformly sampled signals and its effects on the autocorrelation estimation as well as the resulting spectral density function are studied by simulating random signals with known autocorrelation functions. Hence، by comparison of aliased and alias-free cases، indications are deduced from suspection to aliasing، especially in those situations that aliasing is present but the Nyquist frequency is not too far apart from the main peaks in the signal.

A new integrated model is developed for information systems planning. In this model، entitled HISSPM، a combination of the strengths of Critical Success Factors (CSF) method، Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique and Genetic Algorithms (GA) is used to identify and prioritize the required information systems. This model considers both qualitative and quantitative factors، as well as the importance of the factors to decision-makers، and can solve problems with relatively wide search space. Comparing the results of the proposed model with those of the famous available models reveals that the proposed model is valid and efficient. The model tested on a real world problem، resulting in a portfolio of prioritized information systems، under certain conditions and constraints، which have alignment with organizational goals، strategies and plans. This model can help encourge managers in optimal or near-optimal decision-making boost investments on required information systems.

Artificial intelligence is a way of making a computer behave ''intelligently''. This can be accomplished by: studying how people think when they are trying to make decisions and solve problems; breaking those thought processes down into basic steps، and finally designing a computer program that solves problems using those same steps. AI thereby provides a simple، structured approach to designing complex decision making programs. The goal of an AI system is to analyse human behaviour in the fields of perception، comprehension and decision making with the ultimate hope of reproducing the behaviour on a machine، namely a computer. One major category of AI techniques is ''genetic algorithm''. Although it is recognised that the performance of an evolutionary system such as GA is affected by the parameters that are employed to implement them، there is hardly any work known to us that has shed much light on the interdependencies and interactions between these parameters. Most studies on the effects of these parameters on performance of GA-based systems have focused on a parameter، at a time، without considering the effect of other parameters on that parameter and vice versa. Consequently، there is hardly any theory about the interactions and interdependencies of these parameters. This paper contributes towards correcting the situation mentioned above by examining empirically the relationship between three parameters of GAs.

Encryption is an important tool for managing and protecting information. Cryptography is the only practical means of sending information over an insecure channel. These channels may be computers، telephone lines، satellite، etc. The Increasing use of electronic means of data transfer from one point to another، coupled with the growth in networking and Internet communication، has extended the need to protect vital information- military، banking، academics (question papers)، databases and the e-initiative. This paper proposes a new radical method for a secured means of encrypting and decrypting messages. The method uses data compression and systems of non-linear equations. With this، we hope that data transmission across networks will be more secured. This new proposal is in recognition of the peculiar nature of our environment where people want to break codes/messages not intended for them. The final stage is to turn the text message to a system of non-linear equations، which can be solved only when the text message gets to its intended destination.

In the last two decades، the trend in healthcare information technology has been towards digital and multimedia concepts. The next generation of healthcare information systems will consist of a vast network of heterogeneous، autonomous and distributed imaging scanners، Hospital Information Systems (HIS)، medical information from clinical departments such as Radiology Information Systems (RIS)، and large quantities of multimedia medical data held on a range of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). Providing an organizational framework that can integrate this varied collection of resources is a key challenge system researchers and developers face. In order to increase the availability of global or previously non-accessible information and to address the demanding new information processing requirements for diverse image-assisted medical applications، there is a need to integrate HIS/RIS data and medical image data of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). This paper gives a description of the general requirements for HIS/RIS/PACS integration with reference to prefetching، network and image archives. The main purpose of this paper is to present an architecture to allow not just structured text، such as patient records to be accessed in a distributed environment، but also multimedia data such as PACS images. The system architecture consists of modules that provide kernel functionality (kernel functionality provides distributed access) and modules that are needed to fulfill the requirements of data handling within HIS/PACS. The system architecture will، thus، provide a facility for requesting، decomposing and processing a global query، which allows a clinician to request patient records along with the image associated with patient examinations.

In this study، a comparison is made between the results of the end users’ searching of RLST’s databases and those of the information experts’ searching in terms of search time، recall ratio and precision ratio. The study is primarily tasked with comparing the results retrieved through the three different search methods of direct، indirect and mixed. Five of RLST’s information experts as well as RLST’s direct users constituted the study’s sample population. The research method and the data collection procedure used were semi-experimental method، observation and a questionnaire respectively. To test the hypotheses and to find an answer to the research questions، variance analysis، correlation coefficient as well as f، t and z tests were used at α = 0. 05.

The attempts of globalization in developing countries could be observed in a wide range of areas. Objectively speaking، globalization can be of advantage to developed and developing countries provided that the compaines and commodities of those countries can get access to and compete with those of others in international market place as equal partners with fairness in international trade. Globalization is not just liberalization of trade، opening up borders by lowering or removing tariffs and non-tariffs barriers، but it goes beyond and tries ideally to generate a business in production، investment، financing، marketing and distribution as well as in organization، management and supervision by a universal code of conduct. On the other hand، with the expansion of satellite communication، computer net-works، and reducing the transportation costs، the process of globalization is becoming easier، and with the aid of e-banking، Electronic Commerce has replaced the traditional trade system. Moreover، globalization refers to the widespread distribution of networking mechanisms and the accessibility of them to all parties، no matter where they live. It is a difficult stage that requires conscious decision making and can only be developed step-by-step [1]. This paper attempts to review the impact of Globalization and E-Business in the new Millennium، especially in the steel industry. To put it another way، it reviews cost savings that can be achieved through E-Commerce in a global market. Certain recommendations are also made for designing startegies to increase the profit rate as well as the share of E-Business in the market in the long run.
