Khuzestan was a part of the IRAN from the beginning of history. Historical and geographical documents, affirm this fact since the ancient periods of history until now. Moreover Khuzestan is the primordial origin of the Iranian civilization and culture. From the middle of the 19th century, so many efforts have been done for parting this part of the land of IRAN, but these efforts haven’t reached any results until now and the main reason was Iranian identity of Khuzestan. Therefore the antagonist powers have concentrated their efforts to distortion of the identity of this part of IRAN. They try to signalize the linguistic and ethnical distinctive lines in Khuzestan in the case of cultural proceedings and sometimes political proceedings. Also they try to prepare the situations for the proceedings which are out of Iranian identity in the name of historiography or consciousness. Hence they have started to think about "culture making", "history making" and "nation-making".

Orientalism studies the discourse of orientalists critically, concerning the representation of "others" identity. Iranology as a sub-branch of Orientalism pursues the same goal and approach. This article inspired by the theoretical framework of Edward Said’s Orientalism, examines the representation of Iranian culture and identity in two western generations of Iranologists by application of content analysis and comparative method of research. Findings indicate that although western Iranologists, representation of Iranian culture and identity shows some extent of fairness and realism, but in many aspects it is applicable to Orientalism, through negative image-building of Iranians, identification of "self" by attribution of negative features to "others", west-centrism, and wrong generalization and even distortion of historical events concerning Iranians. Thus the study of Iranologists, references can be considered as a part of political project of western system of representation of Iranian culture and identity.

This article studies the status of Persian language and literature during Safavid age emphasizing on social functions of language and expressing the existence of official and national languages throughout pre-modern ages. This scan signifies from several dimensions. First: its relation to foundation of the first nation state in Iran of Islamic age and analyzing its attitude toward the official and national language phenomena as a part of Iranians national Identity. Second: diversity of views about the position of Persian language and literature during the Safavid age. It seems that these views – which often interject the decadence, weakness and isolation of the Persian literature and language at that time – are according to the view which has been formed maliciously during Qajar era rather than to be according to scientific documents. Referring to the firsthand resources of Safavid age, this article includes two parts: In the first part, after mentioning some instatnces of official and national language during pre-modern ages, we have studied the position of the Persian language in that age as the colloquial language of the majority of Iranian people, as the formal language of the governance and documents of Safavid government, as the educational language of the formal schools, as the writing language of literal and general works and as the language of normal calligraphy in the society. In the second part, analyzing the main viewpoints around the Persian language of Safavid age, we have accounted the general complaints, related to the Qajar government and scholars bound to Qajar court which had been formed maliciously. In another part we have debated the complaints against the prevailing literary style at that time and generalizing a case tangling of King Tahmasb with the poets. The other debate is about a part of contemporary intellectualism criticizing religious approaches of the Safavid government. Therefore objecting the precise recognizing the Persian literature and language at the Safavid age, it has been suggested to perform scientific research devoid of value orientation and based on reference to the firsthand documents and works of that time rather than following the general formed viewpoint.

The enigma of "identity" has constituted the studies in areas such as social psychology, sociology, cultural studies, as well as politics and international relations at least within recent decades. The cultural and structural developments in recent decades have led to various, multiple and even conflicting sources of identification. The global spreading of modernization and modernism and the changes in Information and Communication technologies (ICTs) as well as quick and easy access to it have fueled to the multiplicity of identities as well as identity crisis especially among the youth. Cultural developments, economic changes, as well as increase in educational opportunities and social participation have caused a variety of social groups, vast social relations and group belonging and thus multiple identification sources. The deep impact on both social institutions and increasing social awareness of this process has led into adopting new values and attitudes. It also has changed the social roles of the youth, women and men in the society. As a result, the parts of the society which are prone to cultural and institutional changes are facing a difficult time to balance their traditional roles and the new social roles. Thus they change their identity. In the present situation a study of the effect of institutional and structural factors like family, education and occupation on different levels of society especially the youth that are more exposed to renovation can reveal the effect of these institutions in establishing identity or renovating the social identity of the youth. The question is: what are the influential factors shaping on social identity? What are the influential factors on shaping of social identity of Iranian youth? What is the influence of socialization factors on formation of social identity of Iranian youth? This survey is inspired by symbolic interaction approach and is done in 2010.
