صفحه 638مقدمهاغلب عوامل خطر بیماری های قلبی- عروقی مرتبط با آگاهی و رفتار هستند و یکی از ابزارهای اساسی در تغییر سبک زندگی بیمار، وجود برنامه های آموزشی است. این مطالعه با هدف بررسی تاثیر آموزش چهره به چهره، بر اساس مدل اعتقاد سلامت، بر آگاهی و نگرش بیماران انفارکتوس میوکارد ترخیص شده، در مورد عوامل خطرساز بیماری انجام شد.روش هااین پژوهش یک مطالعه نیمه تجربی است. 80 بیمار به روش مبتنی بر هدف در دو گروه شاهد و تجربی قرارگرفتند. ابزار گردآوری داده ها پرسشنامه پژوهشگر ساخته بود که بر اساس مدل اعتقاد سلامت طراحی شده بود محتوای آموزشی بر اساس اطلاعات جمع آوری شده و با توجه به نیازها در چارچوب مدل اعتقاد سلامت طراحی گردید. هر بیمار در گروه تجربی، آموزش چهره به چهره و در گروه شاهد، مراقبت های عادی بخش را دریافت کردند. در پایان داده های به دست آمده با استفاده از آزمون های آماری کای دو، تی زوجی و تی مستقل تحلیل شدند.نتایجمیانگین نمرات آگاهی و نگرش بیماران دو گروه، قبل از مداخله تفاوت معناداری نداشتند (05/0p>). پس از مداخله آموزشی در گروه تجربی آگاهی و نگرش به ترتیب 4/1±02/31 و96/5±9/105 و در گروه شاهد 4/1±92/16 و96/5±86/51 بود و دو گروه تفاوت معناداری را در تمام ابعاد مدل نشان دادند (05/0p<).نتیجه گیرینتایج مطالعه حاضر بیانگر اهمیت به کارگیری مدل های پیشگیری مناسب درآموزش فعال و پیشگیری از مشکلات عود مجدد بیماری در بیماران انفارکتوس میوکارد است.

صفحه 647مقدمهامروزه دروس نظری علوم تشریحی به دو شیوه ادغامی و موضعی (regional) توسط اساتید دانشگاه های علوم پزشکی تدریس می شود. به نظر می رسد شیوه تدریس به صورت ادغام کردن دروس، اساتید را در فهماندن بهتر دروس به دانشجویان رشته پزشکی خصوصا در دوره بالینی یاری می دهد. لذا با توجه به اهمیت موضوع بر آن شدیم تا طی یک نظرسنجی به بررسی دیدگاه اعضای هیات علمی علوم تشریحی دانشگاه های علوم پزشکی ایران در مورد ادغام افقی دروس علوم تشریحی بپردازیم.روش هااین پژوهش یک مطالعه توصیفی مقطعی در سال 1390است. با روش نمونه گیری تصادفی ساده، از بین اعضای هیات علمی رشته علوم تشریحی دانشگاه های علوم پزشکی ایران، که دروس علوم تشریحی به صورت طرح ادغام افقی در دانشگاه آنها اجرا شده بود و در کنگره علوم تشریحی شرکت کرده بودند، افرادی جهت شرکت در مطالعه انتخاب شدند. ابزار پژوهش یک پرسشنامه محقق ساخته شامل سوالاتی در زمینه میزان آشنایی اساتید از طرح ادغام دروس علوم تشریحی، وجود امکانات برای طرح ادغام، و میزان رضایت اساتید از طرح ادغام و اولویت بندی دروس بود. داده های جمع آوری شده با استفاده از آمار توصیفی مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت.نتایجبنا به نظر 16 نفر(3/33%) از شرکت کنندگان، طرح ادغام در کمک به درک بهتر مجاورات به آنها به میزان کم، موثر بوده است. 24نفر(50%) از شرکت کنندگان میزان آشنایی خود را با فرایند طرح ادغام به میزان زیاد و خیلی زیاد بیان نمودند. 24 نفر(50%) از اساتید موافقت خود را با تدریس دروس به صورت سیستماتیک به میزان زیاد و و خیلی زیاد اعلام کردند. 18نفر (5/37%) از اساتید به میزان زیاد با ادغام دروس جنین و آناتومی موافق بودند. پاسخ گویان اولویت تقدم و تاخر ارائه دروس را به ترتیب آناتومی، بافت شناسی، جنین شناسی، و فیزیولوژی ذکر نمودند.نتیجه گیریبا توجه به این که نیمی از اساتید موافقت خود را در تدریس دروس علوم پایه به صورت طرح ادغام افقی به میزان زیاد و بسیار زیاد بیان کردند و با توجه به نتایج مطالعه حاضر، پیشنهاد می شود جدول زمان بندی طرح درس به ترتیب دروس با اولویت آناتومی، بافت شناسی، جنین شناسی، و فیزیولوژی تنظیم شود.

صفحه 656مقدمهیکی از مهم ترین اصول مشاوره، استفاده صحیح از مهارت های ارتباطی است و ارتباط غیر کلامی، یکی از موثرترین انواع این ارتباطات است. هدف این مطالعه، بررسی دیدگاه دانشجویان دانشکده های بهداشت و پیراپزشکی، دانشگاه علوم پزشکی کاشان، پیرامون مهارت های ارتباط غیرکلامی اساتید راهنما است.روش هادر یک مطالعه توصیفی مقطعی در سال 1388، دیدگاه 202 نفر از دانشجویان دانشکده های بهداشت و پیراپزشکی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی کاشان پیرامون مهارت های ارتباط غیرکلامی و رضایت مندی از عملکرد اساتید راهنما مورد سنجش قرار گرفت. دانشجویان به روش طبقه ای تصادفی انتخاب شدند. ابزار مورد مطالعه، پرسشنامه محقق ساخته ای بود که مهارت های ارتباط غیرکلامی را در پنج بعد و در قالب 39 گویه و میزان رضایت از استاد راهنما را در قالب یک سوال مورد سنجش قرار می داد. روایی پرسشنامه به روش روایی محتوی تایید و پایایی آن با استفاده از آزمون آلفای کرونباخ (96/0 =α) تایید شد. داده ها از طریق آزمون های آمار توصیفی و آزمون های ناپارامتریک استنباطی (من ویتنی، کروسکال والیس، فریدمن و ضریب همبستگی اسپیرمن) مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت.نتایجاز دیدگاه دانشجویان نمره مهارت های ارتباط غیرکلامی اساتید راهنما به طور کلی 71/0±39/3 بود (بر مبنای 5). بیشترین میانگین مربوط به پوشش ظاهری10/1±76/3 و حالت چهره اساتید هنگام مشاوره 07/1±54/3 نشان داده شد. همچنین میانگین نمره رضایت دانشجویان از استاد راهنما 28/1±36/3 بود. آزمون اسپیرمن همبستگی معناداری بین میزان رضایت دانشجویان از عملکرد اساتید راهنما و ابعاد پنج گانه مهارت غیرکلامی را نشان داد. سطح معناداری آزمون ها (05/0>α) در نظر گرفته شدنتیجه گیریبر اساس نتایج، سطح مهارت ارتباط غیرکلامی و نیز رضایت مندی از عملکرد اساتید راهنما از دیدگاه دانشجویان در حد متوسط ارزیابی شد. ضروری است مسوولین دانشکده های مورد مطالعه از طریق تدوین راهبردهای موثر، زمینه ارتقای ارتباط اساتید را فراهم آورند. این امر به نوبه خود موجب افزایش سطح رضایت مندی دانشجویان و نیز بهبود کیفیت جلسات مشاوره خواهد شد.

صفحه 666مقدمهدر بعضی از کشورها تعداد دانشجویان پزشکی که روانپزشکی را به عنوان تخصص انتخاب می کنند رو به کاهش است. هدف از پژوهش حاضر بررسی تاثیر گذراندن دوره کارآموزی روانپزشکی بر اولویت های انتخاب رشته تخصصی به عنوان گزینه های حرفه ای آینده، و احترام به تخصص های بالینی در دانشجویان پزشکی بود.روش هادر این مطالعه توصیفی تحلیلی، نمونه پژوهش شامل 104 نفر از دانشجویان سال پنجم پزشکی دانشگاه جندی شاپور اهواز است که از بهار87 تا بهار 89 وارد دوره روانپزشکی شدند. آزمودنی ها قبل و بعد از گذراندن دوره روانپزشکی یک پرسشنامه نگرش نسبت به روانپزشکی و یک پرسشنامه جهت سنجش اولویت ها و میزان احترام به تخصص های بالینی را تکمیل کردند. داده ها با استفاده از آماره های توصیفی، ضریب همبستگی اسپیرمن و آزمونt زوجی مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت.نتایجمیانگین نمره نگرش دانشجویان نسبت به رشته رواتپزشکی قبل از گذراندن دوره کارورزی روانپزشکی(17/9±36/42) با این میانگین پس از طی دوره (86/6±78/47) تفاوت آماری معنادار داشت (001/.=P، 45/5-=t). میانگین و انحراف معیار نمره نگرش در خرده مقیاس های شایستگی های کلی رشته روانپزشکی، تعریف نقش و کارکرد روانپزشکان، جذابیت های شخصی و شغلی (001/0p،80/0r=). پس از گذراندن دوره اگر چه میزان احترام به روانپزشکی افزایش یافت اما همچنان کمتر از سایر تخصص ها بود.نتیجه گیرینگرش نسبت به روانپزشکی تنها عامل تاثیرگذار در انتخاب تخصص نیست و علی رغم ارتقای نگرش دانشجویان نسبت به روانپزشکی، تفاوت معناداری در اولویت های آنها ایجاد نشد. اگرچه پس از گذراندن دوره کارآموزی، میزان احترام به روانپزشکی افزایش یافت اما همچنان کمتر از سایر تخصص ها بود.

صفحه 676مقدمه«ارتباط» در فرآیند آموزشی عبارت است از برقراری رابطه بین دو یا چند فرد یا اندیشه. به عبارت بهتر، تفاهم و اشتراک فکر و اندیشه بین معلم و فراگیر یا فراگیران. با توجه به اهمیت ارتباط در فرآیند تدریس، هدف از این مطالعه بررسی مهارت های ارتباطی استادان دانشگاه علوم پزشکی اراک در فرآیند آموزش بود.روش هادر این پژوهش توصیفی مقطعی 155 نفر از اعضای هیات علمی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی اراک به شیوه سرشماری بررسی شدند. اطلاعات از طریق پرسشنامه خودارزیابی مهارت های ارتباطی بومی سازی شده کویین دام (Queen Dom) با 34 سوال و 5 خرده آزمون، در سال تحصیلی 90-1389 جمع آوری گردید اطلاعات با استفاده از آزمون های آماری توصیفی و آزمون های ANOVA و تی مستقل و کای اسکوئر مورد تجزیه تحلیل قرار گرفت.نتایجمیانگین کل مهارت های ارتباطی 8/8±121 از 170بود. میانگین مدیریت عواطف و احساسات 3/8±2/68، درک پیام 7/7±7/71، قاطعیت در ارتباط 9±9/69، گوش دادن 3/8±4/71 و بینش نسبت به پیام 9/8±68 بود. میانگین خرده مهارت های ارتباطی کنترل عواطف و احساسات در روسا، اساتید مرد شرکت کننده در کارگاه مهارت های ارتباطی بیش از بقیه بود. بین جنسیت و میانگین و انحراف معیار نمرات خرده مهارت های مدیریت عواطف و احساسات، درک پیام (01/0، p=57/2t=) و قاطعیت در ارتباط (02/0، p=26/2t=) ارتباط آماری معنادار وجود داشت.نتیجه گیریبا توجه به میانگین نمره کل مهارت های ارتباطی و میانگین نمرات خرده مهارت ها در گروه های مختلف و وجود تفاوت معنادار در برخی از این خرده مهارت ها، برگزاری کارگاه های آموزشی، به منظور ارتقای مهارت های ارتباطی و بهبود ارتباط استاد با دانشجویان در فرآیند آموزش پیشنهاد می شود.

صفحه 686مقدمهتغذیه مناسب بخش مهمی از یک بارداری سالم است و آموزش مناسب تغذیه ای می تواند نقش مهمی در ارتقای سلامت مادر و فرزند او داشته باشد. این تحقیق با هدف تعیین تاثیر یک بسته آموزشی بر آگاهی، نگرش و رفتار تغذیه ای زنان باردار صورت گرفت.روش هادر این مطالعه نیمه تجربی 88 زن باردار 14-8 هفته مراجعه کننده به چهار مرکز بهداشتی-درمانی شهر کرج، به روش نمونه گیری در دسترس انتخاب و به طور تصادفی در دو گروه تجربی (44 نفر) و شاهد (44 نفر) قرار داده شدند. برای گروه تجربی برنامه ی آموزشی شامل برگزاری کلاس آموزش تغذیه دوران بارداری طی دو جلسه 90-60 دقیقه ای، با استفاده از روش سخنرانی و ارائه ی کتابچه و فیلم آموزشی بود و برای گروه شاهد آموزش در خصوص بهداشت جنسی به روشی تقریبا مشابه داده شد. داده ها توسط پرسش نامه ی خودساخته مشتمل بر 4 بخش مشخصات فردی- اجتماعی (16 سوال)، آگاهی (21 سوال)، نگرش (14سوال) و رفتار (21 سوال) در دو مرحله قبل و 4 هفته بعد از مداخله جمع آوری شدند. جهت تجزیه و تحلیل داده ها از آزمون های کای دو، paired-T-test، t مستقل و تحلیل کواریانس، رگرسیون لجستیک و مک نمار استفاده گردید.نتایجبر طبق یافته ها از نظر مشخصات دموگرافیک و باروری و همچنین نمره آگاهی، نگرش و رفتار تغذیه ای قبل از انجام مداخله تفاوت چندانی بین دو گروه تجربی و شاهد وجود نداشت (05/0p). همچنین بعد از انجام مداخله در گروه تجربی نسبت به گروه شاهد فراوانی مصرف بهینه گروه گوشت (0/13-56/1 CI 95% 51/4OR=)، گروه نان و غلات (25/10-32/1 CI 95% 68/3OR=) و شیر و لبنیات (21/10-12/1 CI 95% 38/3OR=) به طور معناداری بیشتر بود.نتیجه گیرینتایج مطالعه نشان داد که این بسته ی آموزشی توانست باعث ارتقای آگاهی، نگرش و رفتار تغذیه ای زنان باردار شود. با توجه به سهولت اجرای این شیوه ی آموزشی استفاده از آن در مراکز بهداشتی درمانی توصیه می شود.

صفحه 698مقدمهآموزش بالینی و ارزشیابی آن، از ارکان اساسی در سیستم آموزش پرستاری است. این مطالعه به منظور بررسی تاثیر کاربرد دو روش آموزشی مبتنی بر شایستگی و آموزش مرسوم در سطح یادگیری بالینی و شناختی دانشجویان پرستاری انجام شد.روش هااین مطالعه نیمه تجربی بر روی تعداد 28 نفر از دانشجویان پرستاری کارورز بخش ICU در یکی از بیمارستان های تابعه دانشگاه علوم پزشکی ارومیه در نیم سال دوم سال 90-89 انجام شد. نمونه ها به طور تمام شماری با چیدمان تصادفی به دو گروه شاهد و تجربی تقسیم بندی شدند. برای هر دو گروه پیش آزمون و پس آزمون برای مهارت های شناختی از طریق پرسشنامه انجام شد و پس آزمون برای مهارت های بالینی از طریق فهرست وارسی انجام گرفت، نتایج به دست آمده با استفاده روش های آمار توصیفی و تحلیلی مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفتند.نتایجدر مقایسه دو روش با یکدیگر، میانگین و انحراف معیار نمرات مهارت های بالینی به دست آمده دانشجویان گروه تجربی (آموزش مبتنی بر شایستگی) و شاهد (آموزش مرسوم) به ترتیب برابر (01/25±117) و (72/10±162) است که این میزان به طور معناداری در گروه تجربی بیشتر بود (05/0>p). هم چنین با بررسی آزمون t مستقل انجام شده بین نمرات پیش آزمون مهارت های شناختی دو گروه تفاوت آماری معناداری مشاهده نشد (49/0p=). اما نمرات پس آزمون مهارت های شناختی در گروه تجربی به طور معناداری بیش از گروه شاهد بود (000/0p=).
نتیجه گیرینتایج این پژوهش نشان داد که کاربرد روش آموزش مبتنی بر شایستگی، بیش از روش مرسوم، فرصت لازم برای ارتقای و بهبود یادگیری مهارت های بالینی و شناختی دانشجویان پرستاری را فراهم می نماید. لذا پیشنهاد می شود از این روش در آموزش بالینی دانشجویان پرستاری جهت آموزش و ارزشیابی استفاده گردد.

صفحه 709مقدمهبه طور کلی پایین بودن کیفیت زندگی دانشجویان مقیم خوابگاه در ابعاد مختلف، غالبا موجب کاهش عملکرد تحصیلی، بروز مشکلات روانی و جسمانی و در نتیجه افت تحصیلی آنها می شود. هدف این مطالعه بررسی تاثیر آموزش خوش بینی بر کیفیت زندگی دانشجویان دختر مقیم خوابگاه دانشگاه علوم پزشکی اصفهان می باشد.روش هااین مطالعه به صورت نیمه تجربی با پیش آزمون، پس آزمون و آزمون پیگیری انجام شد. برای نمونه گیری از بین دانشجویانی که در پیش آزمون پایین ترین نمره را کسب کرده بودند 60 نفر به صورت تصادفی منظم انتخاب و در دو گروه تجربی (30 نفر) و شاهد (30 نفر) به صورت تصادفی گمارده شدند. ابزار پژوهش، پرسشنامه کیفیت زندگی سازمان بهداشت جهانی (WHOQOL-100) بود. برای تحلیل داده ها از آمار توصیفی (میانگین و انحراف معیار) و جهت تعیین تاثیر مداخلات آموزش خوش بینی از آزمون تحلیل کوواریانس چند متغیری Multivariate Covariance Analysis of Variance استفاده شد.نتایجمیانگین نمرات کیفیت کلی زندگی گروه تجربی در مرحله پیش آزمون برابر با 47/0±94/1 و در گروه شاهد برابر با 50/0±04/2 (بر مبنای صفر تا 4) بود. میانگین نمرات کیفیت کلی زندگی گروه تجربی در مرحله پس آزمون و پیگیری به ترتیب 31/0±98/2 و 34/0±92/2 می باشد که در مقایسه با گروه شاهد(48/0±08/2 و 43/0±97/1)دارای افزایش بوده است. نتایج پژوهش نشان داد آموزش خوش بینی بر ارتقای کیفیت زندگی در همه حیطه ها موثر و معنادار (001/0>P و 79/14f=) بوده است.نتیجه گیریآموزش خوش بینی و داشتن یک شیوه تبیینی خوش بینانه بر ارتقای کیفیت زندگی دانشجویان دختر ساکن خوابگاه دانشگاه علوم پزشکی موثر بوده است. پیشنهاد می شود از آموزش خوش بینی به منظور ارتقای کیفیت زندگی دانشجویان در دیگر خوابگاه ها و دانشگاه ها نیز استفاده شود.

Page 638IntroductionMost risk factors for cardio-vascular diseases are related to behavior and knowledge. Educational programs are essential for changing the patient's lifestyle. This study aimed to assess the effects of face-to-face training about risk factors based on health belief model on knowledge and attitude of myocardial infarction patients after discharge.MethodsThis was a quasi-experimental study. Eighty patients were randomly assigned to either intervention or control group. Data were collected through a researcher-made questionnaire. Educational contents were designed in a health belief model frame based on the collected data and educational needs. Each patient in the intervention group received face-to-face training individually and the control group received the routine hospital method. Finally, data were analyzed using Chi-square, paired t –test, and independent T-test.ResultsStudy results showed that there were no significant differences between mean score of knowledge and attitudes in the two groups before the intervention (p> 0.05). However, after the intervention, knowledge and attitude scores in the intervention group (31.02±1.4,105.9±5.96) and the control group (51.86± 5.96, 16.92±1.4) showed a significant difference in every dimension of the model (p<0.05).ConclusionStudy results indicate the importance of using appropriate preventive models in active education, which helps prevent recurrent problems in patients with myocardial infarction.Keywords: face to face education, myocardial infarction, health belief model, patient education

Page 647IntroductionTheoretical courses on anatomical sciences are taught through integrative or regional approaches. It seems that integration helps teachers to convey the materials better to medical students, especially during their clinical stage. Therefore, we decided to study the viewpoints of faculty members of anatomy department in medical universities of Iran toward the horizontal integration of anatomical sciences.MethodThis descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on faculty members of anatomy whose universities had performed Horizontal Integration for anatomical sciences courses, in year 2011. Using simple random sampling, a number of anatomy faculty members who had participated in National Congress of Anatomy were selected. Study instrument was a researcher-made questionnaire, including questions on faculty members’ familiarity with Horizontal Integration for anatomy courses, availability of facilities for this integration, and their level of satisfaction with integration program and their opinion regarding the temporal priority of lessons. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics.ResultsAccording to 16 (33.3%) of participants, integration had a little efficacy in better understanding of adjacent anatomical elements. Twenty four (50%) of the participants stated their familiarity with the process of integration as high and very high. Twenty four (50%) teachers were highly and very highly agree to teach lessons systematically. Eighteen (37.5%) teachers highly agreed with integration of embryology and anatomy. Respondents classified the temporal priority of courses as anatomy, histology, embryology, and physiology, respectively.ConclusionAccording to the fact that a half of teachers agreed to the horizontal integration of basic science courses in high and very high levels, and considering the results of this study, it is suggested to develop the curriculum and lesson plans based on this prioritization schedule including anatomy, histology, embryology, and physiology respectivelyKeywords: Attitude, teachers, instruction, integration method, regional method, basic sciences

Page 656IntroductionOne of the most important principles of counseling is proper use of communication skills; nonverbal communication is one of the most effective ways of available communications. This research has been performed to study student's viewpoints on advisors’ nonverbal communication skills in schools of health and allied health sciences of Kashan University of Medical Sciences.MethodsIn a descriptive cross-sectional study, 202 students of schools of health and allied health sciences of Kashan University of Medical Sciences were asked about their viewpoints toward advisors’ nonverbal communication skills. Students were selected through stratified random sampling. A self-made questionnaire was used to assess nonverbal communication skills considering five dimensions through 39 statements. Student's satisfactions with advisors were evaluated by a separate question. Validity of the questionnaire was confirmed via content validity, and its reliability was confirmed using Cronbach’s Alpha (α=0.96). Data was analyzed using descriptive statistic and nonparametric inferential tests (Mann Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, Friedman, and Spearman correlation test).ResultsThe total score of nonverbal communication skills of thesis supervisors was 3.39±0.71 (out of 5). The highest means belonged to “advisors’ appearance” (3.76±1.10) and “their facial expression during consulting” (3.54±1.07). The score of students’ satisfaction with advisors was 3.36±1.28 accordingly. Spearman test showed a significant correlation between student's satisfaction with advisors performance and the five dimensions of nonverbal communication skills (α>0.05).ConclusionAccording to the results, the level of nonverbal communication skills and student's satisfaction with advisors were moderate. It seems necessary for faculties under investigation to develop effective strategies to promote their communication skills. Page 666IntroductionThe number of medical students choosing psychiatry as specialty is declining in some countries. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of passing the psychiatric clerkship on consideration of various specialties as prospective career options and their respect for clinical specialties in medical students.MethodsIn this analytical study, the sample included 104 fifth year medical students of Jundishapur University in Ahwaz who started psychiatric clerkship between spring 2007 and spring 2010. The subjects completed a demographic form, an attitude toward psychiatry questionnaire and a questionnaire to assess priorities and respect for clinical specialties, before and after their psychiatric clerkship. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation coefficient, and paired sample t-test.ResultsThe results showed that mean of total scores of attitude before (42.36±9.18), and after psychiatry rotation (47.78±6.86) were significantly different (t=-5.45, p=.001). The mean score of subscales of “overall merits of psychiatry’, “role definition and functioning of psychiatrists”, and “career and personal rewards” were also changed significantly (p<0.001), also score for “possible abuses and social criticisms”, improved significantly(p=0.01) after psychiatric clerkship, but there was no significant difference in “efficacy” subscale (p=0.14). In the priorities of students before and after passing the psychiatric clerkship also there was no significant difference, as there was high positive correlation(r=0.80, p<0.001) between priorities order before and after the clerkship. Respect to psychiatry increased after passing the clerkship, but was still less than other specialties.ConclusionAttitude toward psychiatry isn’t the only effective factor in choosing the specialty, and in spite of the significant improvement of students’ attitude toward psychiatry, it did not make a significant difference in their priorities. Although after the clerkship, respect to psychiatry increased, it was still less than respect for other specialties.Keywords: career choice, psychiatry, medical students, psychiatry clerkship, clinical specialties

Page 676IntroductionIn the educational process, communication is the relationship between two people or two or more ideas. Considering the importance of communication in the teaching process, we investigated academicians’ communication skills in educational process at Arak University of Medical Sciences.MethodsIn this descriptive, cross-sectional study, all faculty members of Arak Medical Sciences University studied during 2010-2011. Data were collected using the self-assessment questionnaire developed and validated by Queen Dom, which has 34 items and 5 subscales, with the maximum score of 170. Data were analyzed using t-test and ANOVA.ResultsTotal mean of communication skills was 121±8.8. Mean of communication sub-skills including emotion control, message perception, decisiveness, listening to and showing recognition to message were 68.2±8.3, 71.7±7.7, 69.9±9, 71.4±8.3, and 68±8.9, respectively. Mean of emotion control in the deans, men, and participants in communication skills workshops were more than others. There was a significant association between emotion control and gender and message perception (p=0.01,t=2.57) and decisiveness (t=2.26, p=0.02).ConclusionWith regard to results, holding communication skills workshops could help improve relationship between the faculty members, specially women members with their students.Keywords: communication skills, student, faculty member, educational process

Page 686IntroductionAdequate nutrition is an important part of a healthy pregnancy and nutrition education can play an important role in improving the health of the mother and her child. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of an educational package on nutritional knowledge, attitude, and behavior of pregnant women.Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 88 women of 8-14 weeks of pregnancy referring to health centers in Karaj were selected through convenience sampling method and were randomly allocated to the experiment (n=44) and control (n=44) groups. The experiment group received nutrition education program including two 60-90 minute lecture sessions and an educational booklet and film. The control group received sexual education with similar method. Data were gathered using a self-made questionnaire including demographic characteristics, nutritional knowledge, attitude, and behavior (with 16,21,14,and 21 items, respectively); before and four weeks after the intervention. Data were analyzed using chi-square test, paired-T-test, T-test, McNemar test and analysis of covariance and logistic regression.ResultsAt baseline, there was no significant differences between the two groups in terms of demographic and clinical characteristics, and mean of nutritional knowledge, attitude and behavior scores (P<0.05). After the intervention, the mean scores were significantly higher in the experiment group than those in the control group in terms of the knowledge (63.5±13.5 vs. 35.7±12.8), attitude (74.8±7.8 vs. 65.2±8.3) and behavior (61.5±14.5 vs. 36.7±13.9) (p<0.001). Also, optimal food intake was significantly more frequent in the experiment group compared with the control group on meat (OR= 4.51, CI95% 1.56-13.00), bread and cereal (OR= 3.68, CI95% 1.32-10.25), and milk and dairy products (OR=3.38, CI95% 1.12-10.21).ConclusionFindings of the study indicate that the educational package was effective in promoting nutritional knowledge, attitude, and behavior of pregnant women. This intervention program is easy to implement. Therefore, it is recommended to implement it at health centers.Keywords: knowledge, attitude, behavior, pregnant women, nutrition, education

Page 698IntroductionClinical education and evaluation is fundamental to nursing education. This study investigated the effect of competency-based and traditional teaching methods on clinical and cognitive learning of nursing students.MethodsThis quasi-experimental study was done on 28 nursing students taking ICU courses in the academic hospital of Taleghani affiliated with Urmia Medical University in 2010 and 2011.Subject were selected by using census sampling and then using simple randomization method and assigned to experiment and control groups. Both groups took pre and post tests for cognitive skills through answering a questionnaire and the post test for clinical skills was done through a check list. Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistical tests and SPSS 16.ResultsThe results showed the mean and standard deviation scores in clinical skills obtained from the experiment group students (competency-based education) and control (traditional training)were 162±10/72and117±25/01,which were significantly greater in the experimental group (p< 0/05). Also the independent t-test on pretest scores on cognitive skills showed there was not a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p>0/05). But post-test scores on cognitive skills in the experiment group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05).ConclusionThe results showed that the application of competency-based teaching method over traditional methods provides the opportunity to improve the learning of clinical and cognitive skills in nursing students. Page 709IntroductionQuality of life is a significant issue among dormitory students which is frequently related to decline in educational performance and severe psychological and physical problems. This study aimed to investigate the effect of optimism training on quality of life among dormitory female students at Isfahan Medical University.MethodsThis was a quasi/experimental study with pre-test, post-test and follow-up. The instrument used was WHOQOL-100 questionnaire. Among the students who completed the questionnaire in the pretest phase, 60 students who got the lowest scores, were selected randomly and then assigned into two experimental (30 students) and control (30 students) groups. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Multivariate Covariance Analysis of VarianceResultsThe means of the general quality of life were 1.94±0.47 and 2.04±0.50 (out of 4) in experimental and control groups respectively. Whereas the means of the general quality of life in experimental group were 2.98±0.31 and 2.92±0.34 in post-test and follow-up respectively, which had increased compared to those of control group. So, the experimental group means were significantly higher (p<0.001, F=14.79) than those of the control group MeansConclusionThe results of the study showed that optimism training could increase the quality of life and all its dimensions among dormitory female students.
