Bibliometric, and scientometric approaches are used to provide appropriate tools for evaluating scientific products at local, national, and international levels. Iran, the same as other countries, has many universities and research centers in the field of engineering that Iran's most of the scientific products account for the field of engineering. This study is a descriptive approach using scientometric methods. is The present paper mainly focuses on visualizing the structure of the Iranian scientific publications in the field of engineering indexed in Thomson Reuters (ISI) accessible via WoS during 1939-2011. To draw the historiographical map of Iranian scientific outputs in the field of engineering, this study used HistCiteTM software. Two indexes, Local Citation Score and Global Citation Score, were used for the purpose of ranking and visualizing data. The results showed that the published papers of Iranian researchers in the field of engineering showed fluctuation. The proportion of Iran in the engineering outputs constituted 0.65% of total publications and ranked 24 of the world. Five large clusters have been formed on the LCS index. The subject areas of the clusters were in “Thermodynamics and Chemical engineering”, “N-O Explosives, “liquid membranes”, “Liquid–liquid equilibrium”, and “decolorization”. However, three clusters have been formed on the GCS index. The subject areas of the clusters were in “liquid membranes”, “applied chemistry”, and “Liquid–liquid equilibrium”. Zafarani-Moattar and Sadeghi, and Ganji, played an important role in this map.

Biological marker is a term used in many scientific fields and was introduced as a measurable element or a clinical indicator in the abnormal biological processes, pathological condition, or pharmacological intervention. Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) from database of Web of Science (WoS) was used to extract all publication indexed as a topic of “Biomarkers” during a period of eleven years through 2000-2010. Extracting of data was restricted to the tag of topics (TS = Biomarkers) from advanced search menu. A total number of 37397 records were extracted on 5 May 2013 and went under analysis. In this study the papers originated jointly by multiple authors from different countries were defined as ones for each country. The study showed that the number of publication in the field of biomarkers showed an increase through the period of study. The number of publication in 2010 was greater than 10 times in 2000. More than 98% of publication was in English. The majority of publication (68%) was in the form journal article. Harvard University, sharing 1,128 papers in the field, was the most prolific university among institutes. The USA contributing 33% of world’s profile in the field was the most productive country. Based on the Bradford’s scattering law, the journal of “Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers Prevention” publishing 3.12% of world’s publication was the most prolific journal among core journals. Analysis of data concluded that oncology was the most interesting subject area of scientists in the field of Biomarkers through the last decade.

This paper aims to investigate the current status of management development in academic libraries and it identifies the deterrent factors in administering management development programs. In order to fulfill the aim of the study, 268 managers from 73 academic libraries answered the questions on their need to management development and the current performance of their organizations. They also prioritized the organizational obstacles to their development. The results revealed that, in general, almost all academic library managers express the need for managerial development. In spite of that, in more than half of libraries no management development program has been held. As the results showed, the three most important obstacles to management development include “Not recognized as a need”, “Inappropriate appraisal system” and “Lack of suitable program” respectively.

The present study mainly aims to demonstrate the weaknesses and strengths of using marketing principles in academic libraries and finally presenting some important suggestions in order to improve their marketing. This study proceeds through expressing the current marketing situation of studied academic libraries from the view point of 4P model. In this regard, the current situation is analyzed using a researcher-made questionnaire, and then the problems and shortcomings are highlighted in the field of marketing in the view point of 4P model which in turn enables us to introduce suggestions to overcome them. This research indicates that marketing principles in the studied libraries are not in a good state. The situation of product dimension is a bit farther up middle state (3.23). Also, the Place dimension with total average of 2.97, Promotion dimension with total average of 2.63 and finally the Price dimension with total average of 1.59 are below the middle state. Therefore, trying to make a good plan in marketing in the four mentioned dimensions is essential for studied academic libraries. Improving academic librarie's statement needs identifying their current situation in the view point of marketing. Consequently, this research studied the current situation of Isfahan governmental academic libraries in order to identify their weaknesses and suggest sufficient suggestions to cover them.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the user interfaces of the most important world’s children digital libraries and consider their conformity with the expert's opinions. This is done with the aim of proposing a set of unique and applicable criteria for Iranian children digital libraries that was not provided by the previous studies. The data for this study were collected by a check list for each of 6 world's most famous children digital libraries. This study applied survey as its methodology. This study showed that the compliance of the children digital libraries with selected criteria totally was 63.43 percent. Among the analyzed criteria, the criterion of "study facilities of retrieved resources" (94.33 percent) and "options for customizing the texts" (3.33 per cent) indicated the highest and lowest level respectively. From the expert's point of view, the option of "show error messages" reached the maximum and "customizing the texts" grasped the minimum levels. Finally, based on the study outcomes, a set of criteria is proposed for children digital library user interfaces. Due to the lack of a known and complete list on the web, some important children digital libraries might be missed. Also, the proposed set of criteria only can be used to evaluate the user interfaces of children digital libraries. Applying a unique set of criteria in designing children's digital Library interfaces could increase the amount of children’s use of such libraries.

Nursing tacit knowledge is a knowledge that is produced inside the mind of nurses and not saved in any databases. The main challenge of nursing knowledge management is transferring tacit knowledge inside the mind of nurses to the others – especially scholars and researchers. This study evaluates personal, organizational, and technological factors affecting the tacit knowledge transfer among nursing experts. It also assesses the most important ways of tacit knowledge transfer among hospital nurses. This study applied survey method. The population was all nursing experts of Bushehr governmental hospitals nurses which were 480 and finally 215 nurses were selected as the sample. Data collection tool included a researcher-made questionnaire. Descriptive and analytical statistics tests were used. It was revealed that the most important way of tacit knowledge transfer among nursing experts was participating in continuing educational courses. Findings indicated that the most important personal factor affecting tacit knowledge transfer was job security; most important organizational factor was rewards system; and most important technological factor was independent physical environment and educational technologies.

The main idea of this survey was to gather the data related to Malaysian Open Access Journals (OAJs) with respect to their subject, host organization, indexing, full text availability and language during 2005-2012. Malaysian journals were selected for this survey because Malaysia is currently one of the successful countries in science and technology among other Islamic countries. Data gathering was performed through using various sources of information such as literature, search engines, and directories. Altogether 216 Malaysian scientific OAJs were identified and analyzed. Most of these journals are published by universities in comparison with research institutes. The number of OAJs in “Social Sciences” and “Engineering and Technology” is higher than other subject fields. The main language of Malaysian OAJs is English.
