Connection of Shi’a hadith to the holy Prophet has been possible all the time through its connection to Imams who are his descendents – a connection made possible through Imams’ companions. Introduction of Imams’ companions and their writings, which narrate from Imams, is the best evidence for connection of hadith to the holy Prophet - a way always invoked by Shi’a. Introducing over 60 companions of Imam Ali b. Muhammad al-Hadi and their works, the present essay makes an attempt to prove that connection.
Keywords: Companions of Imam al Hadi, Shia hadith, author, companion

Investigating literal and technical meanings of the controversial term ta’wil and surveying evolution of its meanings, the present essay deals with Allama Tabatabaee’s opinion in this connection. Allama does not treat ta’wil as being a concept, but believes in his specific perspective. In writer’s opinion, since Allama believes in esoteric meanings of the Quran, one may, somehow indulgently, consider his view on ta’wil as at least being close to the esoteric interpretation of Quranic terms - although Allama has not explicitly said so.

Although knowledge of God is so important that it is considered as the first step of one’s being religious in the Islamic sources on the one hand and Muslim thinkers have dealt in detail with such discussions as proving the Divine Essence and God’s attributes and actions on the other, the question of possibility of knowledge of the Almighty, which is prior to them all logically, is neglected as an independent, comprehensive discussion in the sources dealing with the knowledge of God. Such a discussion may be dealt with in three categories of possibility of mediated knowledge, that of natural knowledge, and that of immediate knowledge. There are four opinions concerning mediated knowledge: two proving and two negating. This essay discusses and surveys the two proving opinions.
Keywords: Knowledge of God, mediated knowledge, exoteric knowledge, esoteric knowledge, attributes of essence, attributes of action

Shiites consider the holy prophet in his highest rank as the law-maker and seal of prophets, while treating his Ahl al-Bayt and Imams as interpreters of shari’a who, being endowed with esoteric cognition, are firmly rooted in the knowledge - but are not new law-makers who abolish prophet’s shari’a as some western thinker have claimed. Imam’s function is to safeguard and protect shari’a – a task absolutely different from status of the holy prophet as the law-maker.
Keywords: prophecy termination, Imama, source of knowledge, divine inspirations, relation between reason, revelation, intellectual maturity

In the Quran, shaytan as an adjective means evil and is used for any rebellious, recalcitrant being. Sometimes, however, this term is applied in its particular sense meaning Satan who was the first existent to be described as devil because of refusing to bow down before Adam. In the Genesis, serpent is a symbol of Satan who deceived Eve, made Adam and Eve eat from forbidden tree, and caused their Fall onto the earth. In the Old Testament, Satan is introduced as the enemy of God and Israelites. Being opponent of man’s happiness, Satan attempts to deceive them. Expounding perspectives of the Quran and the Old Testament concerning Satan, the present essay attempts to explain common and different facets of the two perspectives.

It is not easy to investigate the issue of woman in Imam Ali’s words. What is narrated from him in Nahj al-Balagha and other sources is blaming and reproaching, which has caused various analyses. Some negate woman’s perfection-seeking and her sublime human values treating her as a mean existent using the appearance of Imam’s words, while others emphasize highranked status of woman but consider Imam’s words as contradictory to her real position. Relying on the Quran which is the primary criterion for evaluation of hadiths and considering some social-historical conditions of Imam Ali’s rule, the present essay deals with sermon 80 of Nahj al-Balagha.
