Page 6Introduction and purpose: Exercise and physical activity ameliorate obesity and related complications via effecting on hormones that regulate energy homeostasis and metabolism. This study examined the influence of low intensity versus high intensity endurance training on serum levels of leptin, cortisol, testosterone, Growth Hormone (GH) and insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR) in sedentary obese men.Materials And Methods27 sedentary obese men (BMI=33.82.81 kg/m2,mean aged 21 years) randomly assigned to two training and one control groups. The participants wereexposed to 16 weeks of low intensity (40-45% of heart rate reserve) and high intensity endurance training (80-85% of heart rate reserve), 50-60 minutes per session and 3 days per week. Serum levels of leptin, cortisol, testosterone, GH and HOMA-IR, and anthropometric indices were measured before and 48 hours after last training session. Statistical analysis was done by oneway ANOVA, paired ttest and Pearson correlation, and P value<005 being considered significant.ResultsLow intensity endurance training resulted in significant decreases in serum levels of leptin (P=0.020) and anthropometric indices such as weight, body fat percent and BMI (P<0.05), and significant increases in testosterone of serum (P=0.047). In addition to significant decline in leptin concentration, HOMA-IR and most of anthropometric indices (P<0.05), high intensityendurance training resulted in significant augmentations in levels of GH and cortisol (P<0.05). Furthermore, there were significant correlations between changes in serum levels of leptin andalterations of most of anthropometric indices and body composition in both training groups (P<0.05).Discussion andConclusionHigh intensity endurance training is more effective in the improvement of body composition and ameliorating metabolic hormonal profile than low intensity endurance training in obese men. Keywords: Endurance Training, Leptin, Cortisol, Growth Hormone, Obese Men

Introduction and
PurposeThe effect of acute resistance and aerobic exercise on antioxidant defense and lipid peroxidation has not been fully investigated. The aim of this study is toexamine the serum total anti-oxidative capacity (TAC), bilirubin, and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels after an acute resistance and aerobic exercise in healthy young men.
Materials And MethodsThis study is a semi-experimental research. 29 healthy young men participated in the study and they were randomly divided into three groups including acuteresistance exercise group (N = 10), acute aerobic exercise group (N = 10) and a control group (N = 9). Participants had no any chronic diseases, smoking and supplement foods. TAC, bilirubinand MDA were measured using by precise kit and tools. When the normal distribution of the data is revealed by Kolmogorov- Smirnov test, we applied the dependent t-test and analysis of variance for extraction of results. Significance level was considered if p 0/05.
ResultsThe results showed that the levels of bilirubin (p<0.006 and p<0.005 respectively) and TAC (p<0.001 and p<0.02 respectively) significantly increased after both acute resistance and aerobic exercise; but there was no significant changes in MDA levels (p>0.05). In addition, it is observed that mean changes of antioxidant defense indices of serum had no anysignificant (P>0.05) differences between groups.Discussion and
ConclusionBased on the findings, performing of an acute resistance or aerobic exercise may enhance antioxidative defense system of the body similarly and considerationto the type and mode of exercise training, it could not make any differences about induced responses to exercise.

Page 40Introduction andPurposeBrain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) can affect metabolic processes in addition to its neurotrophic effects. We investigated the effects of aerobic training on metabolic risk factors and BDNF.Materials And Methods21 middle-aged volunteers with metabolic syndrome were divided randomly into exercise (ME) and control (MC) groups. The nutritional logs (carbohydrate, lipid, protein content and total daily caloric intake) during three weeks prior to the study initiation, were recorded. The ME subjects participated in aerobic training program (6 weeks) with moderateintensity and blood samples were taken at two occasions including baseline and end of training period. Between group comparisons were made using independent samples t test and multivariate ANCOVA (in order to control the effect of between group nutritional differences at baseline), while within group differences explored by ANOVA for repeated measurements and Cochran’s test of Q.Resultsaerobic training decreased overall MetS Z score (P=0.001), BDNF (P=0.004), insulin sensitivity (P=0.038), mean atrial blood pressure (P=0.024), waist circumference (P=0.002),fasting blood sugar (P=0.018) and triglyceride (P=0.001) and also increased high density lipoproteine (P=0.003). However, nonsignificant response observed about insulin (P<0.05).Discussion andConclusionAerobic training has various benefits for MetS. However, it seems for metabolic syndrome that the serum BDNF is not a marker of health as typically assumedfor healthy population. Keywords: Metabolic Syndrome, BDNF, aerobic Training

Page 84Introduction andPurposePhysical activity and exercise have beneficial effects on lipoproteins levels. There is limited information available regarding volume and intensity effects ofresistance training on serum lipid-lipoproteins profile, especially apoA-I levels. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of resistance training intensity and volume on serum lipidprofile and apoA-I levels in rats.Materials And MethodsThirty two male Wister rats (287 ± 24 g) were randomly divided into four groups: (1) control, (2) trained with low intensity, (3) trained with moderate intensity, and (4) trained with high volume in moderate intensity. The resistance training consisted of climbing a ladder carrying a load suspended from the tail. After 4 weeks resistance training body weight, serum lipid profile and apoA-I concentrations were measured.ResultsAfter 4 weeks resistance training we did not find any significant difference in serum lipid profile between groups. Serum apoA-I levels in group 4 significantly increased comparedwith control and training with low intensity groups. Discussion andConclusionThis study indicated that resistance training with suitable volume and intensity in rats could increase serum apoA-I levels as well as prevention of weight gain, and alterations of serum apoA-I levels is affected by resistance training volume. Keywords: Apolipoprotein A, I, Lipid Profile, Rats, Resistance Training

Introduction and
PurposeNT-4/5 and TrkB have been proposed to be involved in the coordinated adaptations of the neuromuscular system to elevated level of activity. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of one session of resistance exercise on mRNA expression of NT4/5 and TrkB Proteins in Slow and fast muscles of Wistar Rats.
Materials And MethodsA number of sixteen maleWistar rats randomly were divided to two groups (Resistance exercise(T) and control (C); n=8 for each group). The resistance trainingprotocol consisted of climbing a 1-meter–long ladder, with a weight attached toa tail sleeve. Twenty-four hours following the main training session, rats of T and C groups were anaesthetizedand the right Soleus and Flexor HallucisLongus (FHL) muscles were removed. For NT-4/5 and TrkB expression, Quantitative Real time RT-PCR was used. SPSS software and Independentsamplest-test were used for data analysis. The level of significance was set at P<0.05.
Resultsdata indicate that one session of resistance exercise significantly (P<0.05) decreased mRNA expression of NT4/5 in soleus muscle. However, no significant alteration was detected in FHL muscle (P>0.05). Our results also indicate that one session of resistance exercisehas no significant effects on TrkB mRNA expression in soleus and FHL muscles (P>0.05).Discussion and
Conclusiondecrease in mRNA expression of NT4/5 in soleus muscle may be as result of NT-4/5 and slow MHC interactions. Also, non alteration in TrkB mRNA expression indicated in probable role of P75 receptor.
