    Backgrounds
one of the most difficult tasks carried out by educators in health plan field is educational program assessment and students'' clinical evaluation. Logbook is an assessing tool that reduces the distance between the theory and practice; it could be definitely worthwhile for both the professors and the students to achieve the clinical and educational objectives. The purpose of this study was to determine the Comparing the Influence of Log book on the Scores of Practical Oral Medicine Course Gained by Students of General Dentistry
    Methods
this is a descriptive- analytic study conducted on 36 dental students who have attended the oral medicine course. The students were divided in two groups including the control and case group, randomly. The control group were assessed in the usual method and the case group where assessed by logbook. Then, the average of the grade of oral medicine unit was analyzed in two categories. The data were analyzed by T-test and SPSS 17. The significance level was P
    Results
the average score of the case group was significantly higher than the control group. In the case group, the average score of practical oral medicine course was 16.54(1.47) and 14.92 (2.41) was for the control group that had a statistical significance (p=0.02).
    Conclusion
the increase in student’s scores can be a motivation for applying this method in clinical assessment of the students.

    Background
Research about teaching methods and students'' education is an important subject which can improve the quality of education. This study was performed to compare three educational
    Methods
teaching through lecture, presentation by small group of students, student''s search and study of topics before the class.
    Methods
This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 42 students'' of 5th semesters of basic science course, in Mashhad faculty of medicine. In order to compare the learning outcomes, usefulness and clarity of subjects, similar three subjects were selected from health education sessions and presented with one of the three methods. Descriptive examinations of the most important entries were taken with a similar structure at the end of each session. The collected data was analyzed by using SPSS 11.5 software and statistical tests of repeated measurements, McNemar and Spearman correlation.
    Results
Mean of exam scores, in method of study before the class was the highest and after that students'' presentation was more than the lecture (P <0.001). The frequency of students who had great interest in students'' small group presentation, search and study before class was more than lecture method (P =0.02).
    Conclusion
Interest rate and student exam scores in student-centered teaching methods were more than the lecture by the teacher. This study showed that students'' active role in teaching process can provide a better outcome and higher satisfaction for learners.

    Background
many of the problems and composite filling failures are due to dentists'' inadequate and passing acquaintance with bonding principles. The aim of this study is to assess dentists'' acquaintance with the bonding principles and different adhesive application that are going to be used in educational programs.
    Methods
in this descriptive and cross-sectional study, a valid and reliable questionnaire was designed. The questionnaires were distributed, in person, among dentists in Mashhad, 1389. Our random sample comprised 100 dentists; the questionnaires were filled, gathered and analyzed. The data and results are presented in tables and charts.
    Results
the results of the study indicate that only 21% of the dentists in the sample have adequate knowledge and proficiency in total-etch adhesive application. This knowledge even reduces to 12% for self-etch adhesives. Moreover, it revealed that just 8% of the dentists had enough information about the methods of connecting composite on Porcelain.
    Conclusion
the results of this study indicate that in the majority of arenas we have questioned about, the rate of acquaintance and knowledge of the dentists were weak or moderate. All of the dentists believe that it is essential to hold bonding workshops.

    Background
Objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) is one of the best methods for evaluating the achievement of educational objectives and cognitive, emotional and psycho-motor aspects of medical students. The main purpose of this study was to determine the reliability and validity of OSCE method in evaluating knowledge and clinical practices of midwifery students in the courses of physiopathology, infectious diseases, internal diseases and surgery of Islamic Azad University Karaj Branch –IRAN.
    Methods
This descriptive-analytic study was conducted on 39 midwifery students at the end of the third year of their education in Islamic Azad University Karaj Branch –IRAN through the academic year 2011-2012. Students performed 10 different OSCE stations based on five practical purposes designed by medical experts on curriculum in this field. For the face and content validity of OSCE, the broad consensus on these issues was used. In order to determine the accuracy of the observer''s judgment, the inter-rater reliability and for internal reliability test-retest and Cronbach''s alpha were used.
    Results
The mean of total OSCE score (standard deviation) was 85.29 (8.9). The face and content validity was confirmed after numerous meetings and discussion with teaching staffs on internal medicine and extracting practical purposes. Moreover, the reliability was confirmed by parallel validity, test-retest and Cronbach''s alpha. The Cronbach''s alpha in five scope of OSCE showed a range between 0.52 and 0.78 which is considered acceptable.
    Conclusion
Implementation of OSCE is suggested as a reliable and valid means of evaluating knowledge and clinical practice of midwifery students.

    Background
it seems necessary to assess dentists’ needs in order to upgrade the quality of the educational programs. This study was conducted to determine general dentists’ perspectives in the continuing educational programs in Mazandaran Province.
    Methods
This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out among 430 dentists in Mazandaran during 2011-2012. A questionnaire was distributed to collect the data; it consisted demographic information and some questions about the continuous educational programs. The data were analyzed by SPSS 17 and Chi-square test.
    Results
Most of the participants were interested in endodontic, restorative dentistry and prosthodontics programs. They believed that attending practical courses or lectures that show educational films are more appropriate for teaching programs than just listening to the professors’ lectures. Participating in workshops, watching educational movies, studying books and scientific magazines are considered as the appropriate methods to upgrade depth of scientific knowledge.
    Conclusion
according to the results of the study, major contents of continuous training courses should be reviewed and devised based on the learners’ needs. They should present practical issues, new diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in modern dentistry. Moreover, due to nature of the discipline, workshops or lectures with educational movie presentation are the most appropriate methods for educational programs.

The present study was performed based on the opinions of the cardiology assistants.
    Methods

Sampling was designed to be done effortlessly; seeking opinions from all the assistants with regard to the present curriculum, in addition to investigating their needs for planning changes in it, was carried out through a questionnaire.
    Results
In this study, 55% of the population consisted of men and 45% of women. It turned out that only 38% of them knew the curriculum and bore a precise definition of it in mind. 55% of the total participants concurred to the idea of rotation in the internal medicine ward while 40% demanded radical changes to be made there. In this study, it was made clear that 38% of the assistants agreed to rotation in the cardiology research center. 73% of them demanded holding pre-assistance classes to develop their skills. 66% of the assistants did not grasp the meaning of Evidence Base Medicine. 38% of the participants were partly pleased with the in-ward evaluation by professors whereas 62% did not consider it satisfactory at all.
    Conclusion
Evaluation of the cardiology curriculum of Iran based on the opinions of the assistants of Mashhad Medical University signifies the necessity of changes in it.
