This article aims at analyzing the collection of stories "Digar Siyavoshi Namandeh" (“Thereis no Siyavosh Still Alive”) written by the Iranian psychologist and author, Asghar Elahi, based on Karen Horney's theory. The characters in these stories are in complicated situations and suffer extensively from fear, contempt and loneliness. Elahi in the characterization of his characters explains with new and creative images their spiritualstates as: fear, contempt and psychological illnesses. These ill people usually approach three major defensive statuses that according to Karen Horney' theory are: affection seeking, superiority and seclusion. The characters in these stories - away from reality and in their imagination - live in their spiritual world and escape from their time and they compensate their failures through imagination. In these stories " Nargesoo" the main character in " Digar Siyavoshi Namandeh" represents the type of affection seeking people," Kazemi" The main character in " Akhrin Padeshah (The last king)" tends towards superiority and " Sardari" the main character in" Dastanhaye Sardari (Sardari's stories)" prefers seclusion.

The prominent French psychoanalyst, Jacques Marie Émile Lacan and his theoriesdescribing the unconscious, has created a huge transformation in Literary Criticism. He uses Freud’s concept of the unconscious and Saussure’s linguistics to explain thenew framework of the concept of the unconscious. This paper is an attempt to applythe theories of Lacan in the narrator of The Blind Owl written by a contemporarywriter Sadeq Hedayat as a subject of psychosis. Psychosis is a mental illness whichis characterized by the patients’ disability to encounter the realities of theirsurrounding lives. The isolation and separation from society, is the beginning ofillusions in which case, the patient thinks himself worthy of the ideal world. So, weexpress at the beginning the application of this theory in the realm of “imaginary,”the realm of the “symbolic” and other terms, then we review The Blind Owl’snarrator according to the implications of Lacan’s theories.

Human beings need a compelling reason to live. In other words, "for what" purpose arewe here and why should we live? If there is no "for", human beings will be incapable ofdoing their everyday activities and will not know how to spend their lives. However, alldiscussions are about this question: where can we access this "for"? Is this "for" placedin the nature of human beings and should we achieve this by search and exploration? Oris it that this "for" has no objectivity and is a subjective matter and every person has aunique definition of it for his life? In other words, is the meaning of life an exploratoryissue or is it independent of human beings? Or it is an issue dependent on the subjectwho should create it creatively? In case that each one of these ideas is considered, whatis the method and possibilities of such exploration or creation? An even more importantquestion which is presented in line with the previous questions is whether basicallymeaning is a supernatural issue or does it belong to a field other than life in this world? In this arena, Albert Camus is one of the 20th century scholars who presents the issue ofthe meaning of life from a particular perspective and by removing metaphysical ideasand limiting life to this world, accepts the meaningfulness of life.

This article studies the concept of tolerance in the works of Lessing and Rumi. Forthis purpose, we have compared Nathan the Wise and The Grape Story from theperspective of the American School of Comparative Literature with the help ofdescriptive – analytical method and through content analysis. Both thinkers believethat differences among people are superficial rather than fundamental. All peopleseek the truth. They maintain that problems such as war stems from the fact that thefollowers of different religions are not familiar with each other’s beliefs. Theysuggest that the solution to this crisis is tolerance. Lessing explicitly talks aboutthree divine religions and stresses tolerance in the followers of these religions inNathan the Wise, while Rumi expresses his beliefs in The Grape Story implicitly andesoterically. He requests tolerance from all humanity. Indeed both writers try topromote tolerance and to understand other religious beliefs in an attempt to bringpeace to the world.

For Alexandr Sergeyevich Pushkin, one of the greatest revolutionary novelists andpoets of the 19th century, society and the governing power were two lifetime issues.Pushkin portrayed different social classes including farmers, peasants, and rulers. Moreover, he was master of forming character types. One of these character typesthat has been mainly dealt with in this study is the superfluous man in Puskin’scharacter. This group is represented by the main character of the novel EugeneOnegin. Although this character was first introduced by Turgenev in The Diary of aSuperfluous Man in 1850, the character was mainly introduced to Russian’sliterature by Pushkin in his work Eugene Onegin. Along with surveying EugeneOnegin as the representative of this type of character, another group, which may becalled the representative of the golden generation, is also introduced here. Thisarticle tries to elaborate on both of these character types by picturing similaritiesbetween them in the character of Eugene Onegin.

Postmodern thought has affected all area of humanities; however, its base is found inthe philosophy of language, where theorists speak of judgment about significationand meaning; the critic is also seen as a judge. In this article, we try to vetpostmodern thought concerning judgment from six various aspects, calledjudgments. Despite the correctness of some of its points, we are going to cast doubton some other angles. Our method of criticizing them is through Islamic thought, which derives from the Quran and traditions. The findings confirm that despite thecommon grounds between the two sides concerning deferral in meaning ormultilayered signification, unlike postmodern perspective, Islamic hermeneuticsspots the aforementioned concepts in the light of presence.

The essence of British political theatre of the 1970s and 1980s might be re-read withregard to its resistance to the ideological discourses of the dominant power—especially those of the Neo-conservatism of Margaret Thatcher. English dramatists, who were under the substantial influence of Foucauldian subversive view on powerand ideology, through dramatizing the historical events, attempted to stand againstthe ideology and idealism of the ruling power. They began to subvert the literaryfigures of the past in an attempt to create a new mentality. Among them, CarylChurchill in her Softcops (1984) dramatised Foucault’s Discipline and Punish(1975) along with the French Revolution in order to depict the hegemony anddomination of bourgeois power from the nineteenth century to the present. Thispaper is an attempt to illustrate Churchill’s anti-Thatcherite policy in the mentionedplay and her coping with the how and why the ruling power substituted its explicitand violent strategies with soft and disciplinary strategies of surveillance for makingobedient subjects to confront and suppress any potential civil objection.
