A Lane-Based Data Model for Transportation Networks

All aspect of a transportation infrastructure and dynamic events along this network should be modeled in computer for providing advanced information services for both network users and managers. In this paper an efficient method would be presented which attempts to consider current governmental infrastructure and facilities in Iran. In this paper, the Arc-Node data model is used to model the physical and logical aspects of the roads, then introduce the concept of linear referencing systems and line segmentation methods which are essential for attaching road contexts to the network. In the next step, It proposes a framework for providing lane information in the Arc-Node data model. Finally the implementation details of the proposed method, which utilized Oracle relational database, would be discussed.
