Pilot study Reliability and Construct validity of Persian version of Care Dependency Scale in elders

Abstract:
This study was performed to investigate the Psychometric properties of Persian version of Care Dependency Scale. This investigation is a correlation study. In this study، 45 elder 65 years and older (Language Persian) residing of nursing homes in Ahwaz city was selected using method non Probability Sampling of Convenience. Measuring instruments were “Care Dependency Scale”، “Demographic Questionnaire” and “Mini-Mental State Examination”. In this study were used of Cronbach’s alpha coefficient، Pearson correlation coefficient، exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Data were analyzed with SPSS-16 and AMOS-16. The results exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis indicate that Care Dependency Scale has 13 items and 2 factors were psycho-social and somatic. Internal consistency of the scale was 0. 95 and test-retest reliability 0. 99. The findings of this study show that the Persian version of Care Dependency Scale is reliable and valid for evaluate care dependency، determine care needs، reduction costs، and in end resource allocation among elders.
