Identifying Ethical Indicators among Higher Education Administrators: A Qualitative Approach

Abstract:
The present study has considered the ethical characteristics and indicators of higher education administrators. The study was conducted within the qualitative paradigm and the necessary data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Statistical population consisted of university teachers and postgraduate students from Tehran Public Universities. To select sample universities، we firstly used stratified sampling and then snowball method to have more key informants for our purpose. In order to analyze the narrative data، qualitative content analysis was applied in three consecutive stages: transcribing interviews open coding and selective coding. The results revealed that ethical responsibilities of managers، including managers and university، managers and staffs، managers and student، manager and faculty، manager and personal features and manager and professional features، can be divided into six categories which all together covers 30 ethical criteria.
