Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction

Abstract:
This research is an investigation on the relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. The research method in this study was correlation descriptive. The population of the research consisted of all the employees of Quchan City. A sample of 108 employees, selected by relative classified sampling, participated in this project. They were asked to answer emotional intelligence questionnaires and job satisfaction questionnaires. Pearson’s correlation coefficient, regression, and ANOVA were applied for data analysis. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. The results also revealed that emotional intelligence had a significant and positive correlation with job satisfaction among two factors of Self-regulation and Social skills, but there is not a significant and positive correlation between the Emotional intelligence and the three factors of Self-awareness, Self-stimulation and Empathy with employee job satisfaction. Further, the results of regression test showed that Self-regulation and Social skills had the greatest effect on job satisfaction.
