Correct body posture in nurses: an application ofmotivational interviewing

According to this subject adopting correct posture could be reduced prevalence of back pain among nurses، this study was performed aimed to effect of motivational interviewing to adopt correct posture in operating- room nurses in Hamadan city based on Transtheoretical Model (TTM) in 2011. In this experimental interventional study 82 n urses of operating- room of Hamedan hospitals were selected by random sampling method. They were divided into two groups، the case and the control group. Questionnaires were completed before and one month after intervention (including demographic variables، Transtheoretical Model constructs and the rate of adoption correct posture due to prevent of chronic back pain). Based on pretest results، an intervention consists of group motivational interviewing was provided for the case group. Data was analyzed by SPSS 16. The results of present study revealed that motivational interviewing increased significant positive progress in stage of change in case group (p= 0/000). perceived pros، self-efficacy and the process of change scores increased significantly after intervention while the perceived cons decreased (P <0/05). Motivational interviewing could increased adopting correct posture in case group than the control group (p= 0/000). motivational interviewing based educational programs are effective for adapting correct posture among operating room nurses based on Transtheoretical Model (TTM).
