Introduction of a Framework for Appraising the Effects of Organization Structure on Knowledge Management in Organizations (A case study of Tehran municipality communication and information technology organization)

It is intended to introduce a framework for appraising the effects of organization structure on knowledge management in organizations of Tehran municipality communication and information technology. Statistical population of this research is 400 personnel of Tehran municipality communication and information technology. Among these، 200 people selected as research sample. Two questionnaires prepared to collect data and distributed among personnel. The data obtained from questionnaire was analyzed using Pearson''s correlation coefficient and Structural Equation Modeling using SPSS software. The results of Structural Equation indicated that two dimensions of formalization and centralization in organization structure with knowledge management dimension have meaningful and reverse relationship. Also organization complexity with knowledge management dimension has meaningful and direct relationship. Meaningful relationship indicated that each of organization structure dimensions directly influences the three dimensions of knowledge creation، knowledge transfer and knowledge preservation in organization. Therefore less formalization and decentralized structure in Tehran municipality communication and information technology organization enable organization personnel to have appropriate interaction and relation to implement knowledge management. Complexity increase in organization and also professional skills increase have led personnel to create، transfer and preserve knowledge voluntarily and spontaneously.
