Study of Relation between Personality Characteristics and Organizational Personnel Commitment

The goal of the present study, is examining the relation between personality characteristics and organizational employees commitment working at one of the centers of the police in Tehran. The research is descriptive study and correlation type and in 1391 have done on 212 persons of employed personnel in Aghidati-Siasi Organization of NAJA deployed in Central Headquarters of SAAS, NAJA Command Center, Tehran Command Center. Sampling was performed in classificatory coincidental method. Instruments of data gathering in this survey, was two personality five-element questionnaires of Mccrae & Costa by validity coefficient 0/88 and organizational commitment questionnaire of Allen & Meyer by validity coefficient 0/81. And in order to analyzing the data of the research, have been used of SPSS software, V.14, in two level of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The Research results reveal that between five personality characteristic: emotional stability, extroversion, work ethic, adaptability, pleasantness and organizational personnel commitment is found a positive and meaningful relation. And among this five personality characteristic, pleasantness characteristic by coefficient of correlation (r=0/628), is found highest and strongest correlation to organizational personnel commitment. With regard to the research results, we can conclude that personality characteristic of personnel must be regard as one of the determinatives of their organizational commitment in activities of human sources management. And on this basis, managers can to improve personnel’s organizational commitment and professional functions by implementing performances appropriate to personality characteristics during employing and keeping.
