The Simultaneous Effects of General Factor of Personality and Attachment Dimensions on Marital Quality

The purpose of this research was to study effect of General Factor of Personality (GFP) and attachment dimensions on marital quality. The population of this research includes Isfahans couples who were married at least more than one year and had no stressful events in their lives up to the time of the study. From this population، 522 convenience persons (261 couples) were selected. In this research، the NEO-Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI)، the Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised Questionnaire (ECR-R)، and the Perceived Relationship Quality Components (PRQC) were used for collecting data. Descriptive statistics and statistical inference include structure equation modeling، were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the separated and connected effects of GFP and attachment dimensions on marital were significant. GFP increased and attachment dimensions decreased the marital quality. In addition the effect of attachment dimensions، especially avoidance attachment، was more than the effect of GFP. In general، in explaining the marital quality، GFP and attachment dimensions have unique roles and the function of both of them should be studied simultaneously.
